“More than Convenient - Relaxing”
I had picked the hotel for it's reputation and style. Whilst I found the convenience of locality excellent, the ambiance of the hotel to be beautiful & inviting, the staff were more than helpful (especially the doorman, who saved me from an embarrassing moment), there was one or two little thongs that needed to be addressed. The position of the toilet made it hard for me to put my make-up on as light was not the best & it would have been helpful to have a sign indicating the flush button. Other than this things found the hotel to be very impressive.
“Good Hotel, good concierge Team that cares and attentive”
Great service, great in all area, just think breakfast times should be extended for the buffet, 10.30 is quiet early especially on the weekends. Overall, happy with the stay.
“Would Recommend.........”
The Grand Old Lady may be a little old in areas, but The Menzies still exudes class in a fantastic location. Underground train station across the road with a convenient supermarket and shops,a very short stroll to Circular Quay, surrounded by places to eat or have a quiet drink. You don't feel rushed in the hotel, the staff are courteous and we had a great time in the Piano Bar, good service and friendly. Would I go back, yes, and we will, be it for business, social or other.
“Sydney - November 2012”
Hotel was fine for what I needed - close to work, clean, pool/gym, friendly staff Space in room was a little tight - desk had TV on it which made it tough to work from. All-in-all very happy.
“Excellent location, would recommend without hesitation”
Our queen bed was two twins pushed together and it was slightly uncomfortable but overall the experience was great and the staff were very helpful.
“Enjoyed my stay.”
The Hotel was very central. If you wanted to walk to either harbour you could. Very near the rocks. Also a train station opposite. The staff were very helpful and friendly nothing was too much trouble. It was reasonably priced and good value!
“Great Location”
The Menzies hotel is located with in walking distance to the Circular Quay/Opera House, the Rocks, and the Harbour Bridge - which was great! Only took maybe 10 minutes to hoof it to the famous Opera House! There were lots of restaurants to choose from right outside the hotel, with Max Brenner around the corner (a popular chocolate cafe) and Lindt not too far away. Several pubs were in evidence along the street, and a Duty Free Shopping Complex nearby. The hotel lobby looked impressive, but the room less so. A king sized bed apparently meant 2 twins put together side by side. The air conditioning was running on very low - not able to control the flow of air. I had to open the window to get some circulation going - the taxi exhaust from the street was wafting in, so that limited my options. The expensive internet about $25.00/day was down for 2 days, which was still included on my final hotel bill - though they were "kind" enough to knock off $6.00 when I complained further. Great location, but I expect more service for what I am paying for and obviously didn't receive.
“It's OK”
This is a lovely old hotel in an excellent location. Rooms are comfortable. The room service food is overpriced for what you get and not of the quality to be expected in this type of hotel. If I stayed there again I would eat out. Some counter staff had difficulty with English and therefore appeared not to be obliging otherwise the staff were pleasant and helpful.
“great location and hotel. book early for GREAT rate.”
All good.Sydney is amazing.
“Alot of money waisted.”
This hotel was not worth the money and the staff at reception were incapable of doing his job well, which you would expect after paying good money.
