“Something different with style”
I was really happy with my stay at Kirketon. Its got a unique style of its own, not your average hotel which was great. Tucked away in Darlinghurst, but still can walk anywhere really, oxford st nearby, i did walk into city once which was 15 mins, easy. No breakfast is available, this isnt the hotel for you if you want a lot of room service and food. For me was great, very comfortable room to sleep, and lots of eating out and sightseeing, so I only slept at the room. Perfect for me and anyone else who wants Darlinghurst. Price seemed ok as well.
“Not so comfy...”
This hotel has all the potential to make a great spot. Located in the very trendy Darlinghurst, you're right in the mix of it all. However, in a quest to create great ambience, the rooms are dark and far too small. If you're travelling alone, it might just do but these rooms are not suitable for couples.
“Lousy Hotel, cheap refit, can't hide the cracks”
We checked in, had a shower and checked straight out because that is how bad the hotel was!!! Only had a shower because we had just been travelling for over 24hrs and were desperate. We got no refund but wrote the money off, there was no way we were going to sleep there!!! The hotel is in a grotty area, I was horrified as the taxi pulled up and did not feel the least bit safe. I had emailed the hotel before we left the UK, to tell them that we would not be arriving until the 14th as our flight landed at 6am but had paid for the 13th so that we could check in early. When we arrived our reservation card had a great big NO SHOW scrawled across it. So no one had paid any attention to my email despite the fact they did reply. We paid for a premium room but you could still only just walk around the bed. The window was frosted and coved with dead bug splodges on the outside, YUCK! Chipped paint everywhere. The bathroom had pubic hair on the floor. They have just tried to paint a very tired looking hotel, a new shower curtain, a flat screen tv and some big mirrors. It doesn't make a cheap hotel look or feel expensive. Any room that makes you not want to touch anything for fear of dirt, should not be stayed in.
