“Excellent location”
The hotel has a fantastic central location, a lot of the sights are within walking distance. The rooms are quite small but are more than adequate, and are clean and stylish. Overall the hotel represents excellent value for money.
“Ideal for a City break”
Great heritage character style, convenient location, very helpful staff.
“Best shower I've ever used in a hotel and excellent split system for temp control”
So impressed with this hotel. We where after a budget stay, so the Pensione was a good option for us. The hotel has been nicely refurbished, room was comfortable and easily accomodated our family of 4's needs for our 3 night stay. The shower was AMAZING, steady, hot, water that was easy to control. None of these crap water saving heads that you spend 3 times as long in because you have to chase the drips of water around. Our room had a split system airconditioner which was fantastic. It allowed us to cool the room down to our prefered temp, especially good for sleeping at night. (last hotel we stayed in was more upmarket but only had evap cooling and the climate control was non existant!!) Rooms where basic, with a bar fridge, and equipment to make coffee/tea. plenty of storage space. Excellent location on Sydney's George Street, only 5 min walk to Darling Harbour precinct, ferry's, monorail station, train station and backing on to Chinatown. Definitely would recommend.
“Perfect for what we wanted”
Great stay, four of us stayed in one of the triple rooms for two nights. It was small but totally what we expected and great value. We just wanted somewhere to sleep that wasn't a full on backpacker hostel. Very central, clean and well looked after. Only annoying thing was that we weren't told that our late checkout of 12 noon that we paid extra for would mean you don't get discount parking but everything else was great.
“Great Value for money”
Ideally situated for us, close to CBD and Darling Harbour, with good buses down to Circular Quay and the Opera House, Although not to far to walk to anywhere of interest. Room was small, but clean and tidy, and it is a boutique hotel after all. Had a room on the front, but double glazing did it's job and we had two good nights sleep. Lots of places to eat nearby, but the harbour was favourite , for the views. Staff were fantastic, and very helpful. Only downside, being picky, were the carpets and decor being a bit tired. All in all a great stay and well worth the money.
“Beyond expectation”
Daniel and Mark made our vacation memorable. They are so friendly and Knowledgeable. The common area is just great idea where you can chill out have a cocktail or warm up you breakfast.
“Nice, clean and simple”
Really good for the money, stayed a few nights at a place over twice the price and this came pretty close. Obviously its not going to be luxary for the price but comfortable and love the giant shower head. Kitchen that you can use, not that we saw anyone in there. Great location, easy walk to darling harbour, central station and cicular quay a little further. Friendly staff who gave great tips about local restaurants and bars.
“Awesomeness in Sydney's China Town”
This was the second time staying at Pensione Hotel and we had great time. Perfect location for China Town and Darling Harbour means that everything is just a short walk away. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel on George Street so you are able to catch a lot of buses, including the free city bus (555). There is a Westpac bank and ATM just down the road which is great. The hotel staff are friendly and really helpful. There is a shared kitchen and lounge room which has cooking facilities. The hotel shares our views on being eco-friendly so you have the option to choose for your room not to be vacuumed daily and are able to re-use your towels/sheets. All up we have stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks and definitely recommend it.
“Sydney on a budget”
Location safe & short walk to all tourist activities & cafes. Hotel was very old with small rooms but clean, price for Sydney was great.
“can't wait to leave!”
The location of this hotel is very good, central, within walking distance to Chinatown and darling harbour, even the opera house, plenty of restaurants around. However, the room is extremely small, no bedside tables, dim ceiling light, no bed head, a small talbe without draw, never seen such a small basin in the bathroom, if you turn the tap on, water splashes everywhere. I can hardly manage to put kettle under the tap to get some water. Noise like buzzing sound came out of the window almost non-stop at night. If you walk all day in sydney from 8am-8pm, you can fall asleep without problem, I guess. The partition between rooms is not so sound-proof, can hear next door turning tap on, running water... To be fair, the hotel staff are very friendly and helpful, but the hotel itself needs a big fix-up. generally speaking, this hotel is central, is cheap, but I will never go back again.
