Underwhelming

Posted 01-Mar-2015
Underwhelming was the best way to describe this stay. If this was a country motor inn I'd say it was on the mark. It was however not a country motor inn but a Marriott in the heart of Sydney. The hotel looked dated, the staff service was ordinary (except one concierge who was on the ball), the food was sub standard. All in all the hotel didn't live up to the name or the price tag.

Overpriced and overrated!

Posted 26-Feb-2015
Pros: Clean room and good breakfast buffet
Cons: Hotel in general seemed tired and could use a renovation.
Location: Very convenient to Rocks,i.e. Sydney Harbour.
Ask for early check-in and high floor and was given a middle floor with regular check-in. Had stayed at the Shangri-La on earlier trip and was much nicer for same price.

Marriot Harbor Circular Quay

Posted 25-Feb-2015
Pros: Great location. Minutes away from the Opera house, Sydney harbor bridge, and many many resturants.
Cons: Marriott needs to catch up with the game if they are going to continue charging 5 star hotel prices. Not the best stay Ive had.
The hotel seems to be older and not very well kept on the outside. The inside lobby areas were nice and the dining area was acceptable. The rooms are very small for the price. I ordered a double bed because my 5 year old was traveling with us. Rather than giving us the double bed room they gave me a king bed with a roll away for the five year old. This took up a lot of room needed for the small crib we brought for the 10 month old to sleep in. The room service come very late in the afternoon (approximately 4:00 PM) which was an inconvenience when we made it back to the room earlier in the day.

Nice hotel, close to places of interest

Posted 23-Feb-2015
Pros: Location and services
Cons: Lobby area a bit aged. An uplift to make it look brighter and fresher
Location: Explore the Rocks, walk across Harbour bridge, walk to Chinatown and Darling Harbour, explore Opera house precint and Botanical garden, museums
Pleasant stay in a nice hotel. Close to all places of interests, Chinatown, Darling Harbour Opera House, Botanical Garden, etc Close to public transport - train to airport (quick, easy and cheap) and ferries to Manly, Watson Bay, Toranga Zoo, Parramatta, etc Good facilities and services one come to expect from a Marriot hotel

Great Hotel in Sydney!

Posted 23-Feb-2015
Pros: Just about everything - GREAT breakfast buffet as well!
Cons: The policy noted above.
Location: Circular Quay, Sydney Harbour and all the good restaurants there, the Sydney Opera House, the Rocks, etc.
Our two-night stay was great. Probably the only negative thing was that when we arrived - after a 14-hour+ trip from California, our room was not "ready" and so for an extra $30 per night we got a room that was ready. That was the only unfriendly thing we experienced.

Good location

Posted 23-Feb-2015
Pros: Alan at the Concierge desk was top-notch. Wonderful demeanor and very helpful! Hostess at breakfast buffett was very friendly and cheerful!
Although our room was clean, the mattresses were too firm, and the standard sized unit was cramped. The shower design was inefficient in that the fixed shower door did not extend far enough to prevent water from splashing onto the bathroom floor, thus necessitating additional towels. Maids appeared reluctant to provide additional toiletries upon our request.

Walking distance to the Quay and The Rocks!

Posted 11-Feb-2015
Pros: Everything
Excellent hotel. Clean, comfortable, and great staff. Location wonderful. We walked from the cruise ship with suitcases - about 4 blocks. Staff was very helpful. Booked Harbour view but none available at 10 am, they offered us a non-view with a free breakfast coupon. Not feeling the best so just wanted to get to the room, drop off luggage, and take a nap so this was great. They even let me use their phone for contacting the airlines. The lobby bar downstairs was nice with good food. The Rocks area is about 4 blocks also. Enjoyed walking around this area. Would stay again in a heartbeat!
