Pros: Location was very good
Cons: Provide free wifi in rooms.
Location: Located near the harbor, it is within walking distance of good shopping, the opera house, the Rocks area, and both water and bus transportation.
Hotel is in an excellent location within walking distance of many of Sydney's main attractions. The room was very clean and the staff excellent. While they have complimentary wifi in the public areas, you have to pay extra for wifi in your room. That is a downer in my opinion in this day and age of so much free wifi.

Girls catch up weekend

Posted 22-Jun-2015
All staff were friendly and accomodating. There was efficient service from concierge, to front desk to the dining facilities. Happily stay there again and recommend to others. It's also so close to circular quay, opera house and harbour bridge we walked everywhere!

Don't pay extra for room upgrade

Posted 15-Jun-2015
Great hotel. Centrally located. Right across the ferry and metro rail stations. Great eating options. Everything good about the location and the hotel. But a hotel is also judged by the people who represent it. They cannot and should not act like pariahs trying to make an extra buck? Right? However one thing left a sour note. They charged me extra for an upgrade to an Opera view room. They also told me it was a bigger room than what I am entitled to. The thing is, I was already booked into getting a deluxe twin double bedded family bay view room. I later realised that the bay view room will have a view of the Opera house. Felt cheated. May not stay there ever again. Besides, the family room is too small for a family. The picture on their website is not representative. there are a lot if misrepresentations.

Unexpected for Marriott standard

Posted 13-Jun-2015
Pros: Location.
Cons: Housekeeping standard.
Overall stay was fine. Fantastic location and staffs are generally friendly & courteous . However, housekeeping is a real let down and unexpected coming from Marriott. Bathrobes are on request only, disappointing for a 5 star property. Room was hardly vacuumed and dusted for our 7 nights stay as rubbish can be clearly seem on the floor and the dust are visible. 6 nights out of 7, bathrobes were causually thrown onto the window sill or over the chair or the beds, had to call to replenish the bathroom amenities. Upon expressing my disappointing to guest services and Housekeeping staff, apologies were given but no improvement were made. Was informed that the simple explanation was housekeeping has been outsourced . There was only one night that the room was serviced properly and amenities were replenished. Completely unexpected from the Marriott.

PAY FOR OPERA VIEW

Posted 13-Jun-2015
Pros: Views.
Cons: Decor. Pool needs to be warm enough to swim - heating insufficient. Guess it's a cost/benefit thing, but you pay enough for this hotel.
Location: Close to VIVID festival activities. Good to get to any tourist venues and Circular Quay, and, for us, a preferable end of Sydney CBD.
Getting to be quite an outdated looking facility now but worth paying the considerable extra sum for a room with a harbour/opera house view. Rooms are wonderfully spacious. But there's nothing EXTRA about the place; no WOW factor which there probably was back in the 80s!

Not a good hotel to stay.

Posted 12-Jun-2015
Well I have stayed in many 5 stars hotel all over the world but this was one of the worst experience. The hotel is expensive and the rooms are small with old carpet and look very dingy. During the booking the internet was free but they still billed it and even on cancellation they still charged the credit card. The strange part is that unlike other hotels they charged us around $480 for security deposit for the night! Usually hotels charge US$200 or so for the full stay. I would not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel.
