Superb comfort in a rural setting near Gatwick, this magnificent converted priory boasts panoramic views of rolling hills in a truly spacious and serene setting. The staff care about their guests, the rooms are lofty and bright and the Cloisters Restaurant serves delicious fare. The spa facilities are in a separate building and there are acres in which to walk and unwind after a trans-Atlantic flight. The environment is safe, birds and other wildlife are near and the feeling is one of having stepped back in time. It was truly a restful place, which is not easy to find these days.
Excellent value for money. Great location as a base for surrounding area (Windsor & Eton) and central London, which is a single 40 minute overland rail journey to Waterloo. Whilst rooms are on the small side the bed was comfortable.
Free swimming pool and leisure facilities are a bonus as is the large free car park.
The hotel even left in our room an unexpected bottle of wine, chocs, fruit and a card for my wife's birthday which the room maid must have organised. Nice touch.
Would certainly recommend
I had no complaints whatsoever. Absolutely loved it and could have stayed longer! The grounds are just amazing and you could easily spend half a day just wondering around. We had a Superior room which was lovely.
Very nice hotel, modern decor, beautiful grounds, the breakfast Buffett was very acceptable and very nice. Room service was very good and food was resteraunt standard! The staff was very nice, helpful and pleasant.
Would definitely recommend and stay again.
I needed somewhere to stay in Guilford as I was attending a wedding the following day and wanted to arrive refreshed. I liked that this was a spa hotel and looked forward to relaxing in the pool. My experience went beyond what I could of hoped for. Altho the pool was small I was fortunate enough to have it more or less to myself with my teenage son ( there was only ever one other person around in the two hours we spent swimming, using the jacuzzi, steam room and sauna). We followed this up with quick bite to eat in the restaurant (chicken goujons and chips which were really tasty) before retiring to our room to snuggle and watch TV. During the evening there was a wedding reception but this in no way interfered with our stay and as we were on the 2nd floor we were not disturbed in any way. In the morning we had another hour in the spa before returning to have a continental breakfast in room whilst getting ourselves ready for the wedding.

The Manor House Hotel in Guildford, Surrey provides excellent accommodations set in parkland grounds, just 4 miles from …More
The hotel has the air of a Victorian folly (I didn't check the actual history...) with lots of dark wood and floral wallpaper. There is a big foyer area with fireplace and sofas which is welcoming on a cold day. The rooms are well presented - well mine was - although the fire escape right outside the window detracted from the effect making it seem a little more oppressive. But a comfy bed and nice touches like mineral water and bath robes made the experience a little less humdrum. All the staff I came across were really helpful and friendly and this made a big difference too. The evening meal was very ordinary and overpriced for what it was (£14 for a pretty standard burger) and the dining room was a bit tired looking. Breakfast was slightly better and, again, was presented by friendly staff. Overall the hotel felt quite individual which in itself is a welcome feature nowadays and I would certainly stay here again.
