Nice hotel, in a good position for most local venues. Outdoor pool was nice as were the grounds. The room we stayed in was a garden room, had everything we needed. 3 of the 4 nights of our stay there was a wedding or event on. This stopped around 11 so wasn't a problem.

Modern, well furbished

Posted 08-Jun-2015
Pros: Exceptional restaurant and waiting staff who really knew the menu and shared a passion for the food they served.
Cons: Room cleanliness and time it took to check in (which seemed a bit laborious)
Location: Seems to be on a well known route for cyclists; they were everywhere!
If you're looking for a home away from home, than this is it! Modern and comfortable, the hotel met our needs completely. The restaurant was a standout; top quality food worthy of a london michelin star restaurant. The only slight downside; the room was not the cleanest (the bin had not been emptied) and when i politely asked the cleaning staff i was given a strange look as i don't think they understood english. But this was only a minor detraction on otherwise a fantastic stay!

Never judge a book by its cover!

This hotel may not look much from the outside but inside it has been delightfully updated. It is modern, airy and light whilst maintaining the heritage and beauty of the area. It's in a very convenient location but also a very attractive location. The bedrooms although a little on the small size are well decorated, modern and very clean. I did think it was a little pricey, however I flew in from New York early in the morning and arrived at the hotel at around 10:00am and the staff were very helpful in accommodating my exceptionally early arrival. In comparison to the other hotels in the area this is by far the best. I was very happy with my stay.

Great for cycling Box Hill

Recently renovated so was all very smart. Room had everything you need in it and also a balcony. Breakfast was very good and plenty of choice. A bit noisy on the second night due to a wedding downstairs, there were a number of loud drunk guests at 1.00AM. Location brilliant for walking and cyling in the area. There were also a number of local pubs in walking distance, do not drink in hotel unless you have loads of money to throw away!!

Almost there!

Potentially a super hotel in a beautiful location - very well stylishly appointed. Just needs to complete some small finishing touches to get 100% marks - examples such as it was obvious room allocation had been manually changed so not surprised that key card didn't open room door and had to be reset; only 1 English teabag on complimentary tray so another visit to Reception; used breakfast room service order card left in room etc.; no controlled access to Breakfast room so long wait for waitress to work out new arrivals to get tea/coffee ordered etc.. Small things but all easily fixed!

Stayed for wedding night, arrived just after midnight and two guys on duty were amazingly helpful, checked us in quickly, showed us to the room and even organised food and champagne to help us celebrate a bit longer! Great service, very scenic location, overall, great hotel

Great surroundings

A very comfortable stay in lovely green surroundings. The outdoor pool was a delight after our long walk in the hot weather. Just need a sauna and steam. There's room to put one in... The hotel room double bed was huge and comfortable that looked out on to the pleasant Green Garden, the bathroom immaculate with a deep bath. Breakfast was delicious. Variety and looked good in the lightly aired dining room. Restaurant was closed on the Sunday night when we wanted to eat but it wasn't a problem as the bar food was nice and the bar was a nice place to be in. Tasteful and neutral decor throughout newly refurbished hotel. Liked all the furnishings especially the two seater chair in the foyer. A very modern reception. Just thought it was a big old table at first. Check-in took a long time. No queue but staff seemed to find the laptop keyboard tricky. Liked the quietness of the place. Heard the loud music from the wedding party in the Tithe Barn but don't know when that stopped as I fell asleep. Hotel great for visiting Denbies Vineyard and Dorking ton centre as is within walking distance. We had a very enjoyable stay and would love to return again.
