“Pre-holiday stay”
Would recommend this hotel if you have an early morning flight as it is an ideal location for Gatwick at a very reasonable price.
“Despite the service”
After arriving at just after 11pm I found the doors locked. I could see two people behind the reception. One was serving a customer, the other looked at me, no acknowledgement, but eventually came to unlock the door. Before I got in, he turned and walked away. No hello, welcome or contact of any kind. Same at reception. I thought I was wearing Harry Potter's invisible cloak. Eventually first guest left, and I was attended to. Half way through being sorted the other guy, who I think might have been the manager, interupted the computer in order to sort out the guest behind me. Just very cold and ignorant. Room was fine, clean and spacious. Bathroom was fine and for one night this was very adequate! Took a while to sort the air con out, but got there in the end. Cleaner knocked and just walked in at 8 in the morning! She soon realised and beated a hasty retreat! So facilities all good, but the service leaves a little bit to be desired!!
“Days Hotel in Horley”
Staff was very kind, i didn't had any problems, the only problem is the location, but once you get used to it is wonderful having gatwick airport at 10 minutes and with cheap fares. Horley is a little bit further than expected from central London but i needed a Hotel that was close to the airport to arrive late and depart early so it was a good option. The hotel is like 10 minutes away from the train station by foot and service to london victoria is relatively low a round trip. The only bad things was that the TV service didn't had good channels and the shower did a lot of noise specially when guests in rooms next to mine took showers. Other than that it was good experience.
“Most Disappointing”
My wife recommended it, as she overnighted there 1mth before. I arrived in Gatwick at 8:30am after an 11hr flight, I called the shuttle which arrived a little over 1hr later. When I arrived, check in was at 2:00pm so I had to wait in the lobby. They said the most that can be done was give me the room as soon as it was ready but in the meanwhile I can go get some food in the restaurant. When I walked in the restaurant it was closed at 9:30am. I asked if they can make me something simple as I was hungry and had the shuttle picked me up when it was supposed to I would have arrived in time, to which they weren't able to accommodate me. I walked to a nearby gas station and was able to buy a hotpocket, I walked back and asked if it could be warmed and this also was unable to be done. I sat in the lobby and waited for the room and the power went 2 times. I finally got the room at 11:30am went in and the power went again for 2hrs. I asked if I can charge calls to my room and they said no, I need coins for the pay phone outside, yet they couldn't change the US$ I had, "all I had to to was take a bus and go to the bank" (to which I had no local currency). I came out at 8pm to eat and the food was terrible. I asked another person why I couldn't charge calls to which he said I could (by this time it was too late to make any other plans) I left at 7:00am the following day. Terrible stay in my experience and I will not be going there again. Other ppl may have a different experience.
“Does the job for a Gatwick commute”
We booked into the Skylane (now Days Hotel) as we had an early morning flight out of Gatwick. We didn't have a car and found it to be miles from Horley train station after thinking we could walk it! 30 minutes later we arrived. Hotel was clean, staff were friendly, but this is very much a crash-pad for catching flights from. Beds were very unforcomfortable with springs sitcking into your back. Other than that no complaints really. 5 minutes and £5 cab fare to the airport. Does the job but might be worth looking around for other options.
“better than expected”
Given the price I expected less than I received. Hardly glamorous and the neighborhood is generic at best but my room was clean and the service professional. The restaurant/lounge are to be avoided because they're boring and uninspired but the room was clean and had everything I required and the airport is very nearby, my greatest concern upon booking. A reasonable night's sleep at a reasonable price and early morning airport convenience was what I needed and what I received.
“Not impressed”
Good location for Gatwick airport travel. We booked the hotel as we drove 260 miles down to give lift to elderly parents who were taking late evening flight from Gatwick. We stayed overnight before we drive back home. The Check out is at 11 am, which we did not notice, and you get really hustled if you stay a minute longer. Room and bed linen are not clean. Sadly dead bed bug was seen between the linen and quilt. Room was cold and temp was difficult to control. Will not stay there again.
“You get what you pay for”
Off Airport hotel that did have free pick up and return. Now you pay for the return. Have used this hotel about 15 nights over the last 12 months and have been satisfied, but think now that Premier are in Gatwick, might have to give that a try next trip, following an impressive Premier stay at Southampton.
“Good for a one night stay”
For a one night stay when you need to transfer airports, this is a good place to stay. Very affordable with a convenient free shuttle. Couldn't figure out how to turn the tv on, but staff were quick to assist. Nothing in the area... I always like to find a nice pub when going through London. Oh well. My one complaint. No outlets! I couldn't plug in my hair straightener or charge my batteries. That was annoying. Other than that, if you're on a budget, this is a nice, clean, convenient place to stay.
“Would not recommend”
The room was adequate but the hotel was musty, carpets were dirty and the breakfast "buffet" for 6 pounds (I thought I had a bed and breakfast package but apparently not) consisted of one type of cereal and 2 slices of thin, cold toast and instant coffee. No internet available. The shuttle was OK - didn't realise that I had to call from the airport phone as I had been told at the airport hotel information desk that it came around every half hour, so stood there until, fortunately, someone who was in the know arrived and made the call. All in all I think you could do as well, or better, at one of the airport based chain hotels.
