Basic; clean but great breakfast,

Posted 08-Nov-2014 on Hotels.com
Breakfast was why I chose this venue, we had a long day ahead, and it was great, we were not disappointed. Only stayed one night, room clean, TV basic, shower [grout] needed cleaning.

Good for the price

Posted 31-Oct-2014
Definitely not a 5 star hotel (but you are not paying 5 star price). Pros: The staff was nice, the breakfast fantastic, there is a real effort to keep everything clean, not far from waterfront or town center and close to train station Cons: The street is loud because it is close to train station. You will hear the announcements for every train. The mattress was horrible. I could feel every spring. The price/location can also attract some louder groups, esp on the weekend.

Comfortable stay

Posted 23-Oct-2014
This is a conveniently-sited hotel, just a few minutes' walk from Ipswich railway station. During my stay, I found the staff helpful and friendly. My room was comfortable and warm (on a rainy, cold night) with a welcome en-suite hot shower. Breakfast was generous and tasty.

A BRIDGE TOO FAR?

Posted 22-Oct-2014 on Hotels.com
BASIC ROOM, NO EN-SUITE, SMALL TV, BED UNDER CHIMNEY BREAST. SMALL CAR PARK AT SIDE OF HOTEL, NOT MARKED OUT AND NOT VERY PRACTICAL. TOILET AND SHOWER CLEAN. SHOWER TOOK A LONG TIME TO DRAIN WATER, SUGGEST PIPES NOT BIG ENOUGH. KETTLE GOOD, SINK IN ROOM CLEAN. NOT REALLY WORTH £50 FOR THE NIGHT, SUGGEST CLOSER TO £30 WITH NO BREAKFAST INCLUDED.

Decent cheap and cheerful hotel

Posted 20-Oct-2014
Cheap, decent value for money. Breakfast only had full cream milk (no semi-skimmed) and meat that has halal ie veggie sausages and turkey bacon; I feel that the hotel should advertise that this is the case rather than effectively forcing people to eat halal meat if they want a cooked breakfast.

non smoking??

Posted 16-Oct-2014
Pros: breakfast
Cons: creaking beds, grubby shower room, cigarette smells, faulty electrics, unfriendly staff
Location: right in the heart of town, near most things, especially the train station as its just across the road
We arrived late in the evening (approx. midnight) and I was very relieved that the staff had left a key for us where they instructed we would find it. We started out with a good feeling that soon left us, as we went to find our room. We were positioned at the top of the entire hotel, humping luggage up 2 flights of stairs, trying to be quite as others were sleeping. we entered the room to an overwhelming smell of cigarettes. the lights over the bed didn't work, the TV was ancient (but did work) one of the plug sockets didn't work, I was told on the phone it was en-suite, but we had to traipse half dressed to the toilet in the night (it wasn't en-suite) and as we aren't a couple, the 'twin' room turned out to be 2 twin beds pushed together like a double bed with one sheet???? this could have been very uncomfortable for us and with it being so late, we had no-one to speak to about the issues. the bed squeaked so every time we moved it woke us up, the only saving grace was the breakfast!! my PJ's stank of cigarettes and I found the whole experience a disappointing one. NO, I wouldn't stay again, and I wouldn't recommend it either, I would rather pay a bit more for the travel lodge, at least you know what you get and it doesn't stench of cigarette smoke!! £50 NOT well spent.
