Overall impression

Posted 22-Jun-2015
Pros: We liked the food, the swimming pool and the gym.
Cons: A posher type of music in the restaurant would be more suitable for a four star hotel. The coffee in the restaurant was not as good as elsewhere.
Location: Lovely
The kitchen staff tried very hard to accommodate my dietary requirements and on the whole we were very pleased. Very good value for money.

Rooms need a clean & update

Posted 22-Jun-2015
Pros: Nice swimming area, but no baby changing area.
Cons: Needs a good update,
I'm 26 years old and never complain, but in this case... our room was so disappointing. The room wasn't worth what we paid, very dated and dirty. I had to keep my shoes on when walking around on the carpet. The whole room needed a good hoover especially the corners of the floor and curtains. I didn't want to pull the curtains across incase some fell out! The bath panel needed replacing as the paint had clipped away. They don't supply many bathroom soaps so take your own, especially if you want to wash your hair. There is also no hairdryer. The phones in the room didn't work so we had to order room service off of our mobiles, the cups for tea & coffee in the room were stained, so i washed them before use. I would stay again

Disappointed

Posted 02-Jun-2015
Pros: The spa area and the lovely bar staff very friendly
Cons: Front of house staff to be more helpful and look happy.
Have stayed in this hotel many times and have always had a fantastic stay. However, I paid extra for a superior double and the room was worse than a standard. Very pokey and no window in the bed area. To be honest it was worse than the standard doubles we have stayed in before. I called the reception as to be told no more rooms available. Which I understand, but she could of at least charged the standard double rate instead.

very pleasant stay.

Posted 26-Mar-2015
we had a very nice overnight stay, all staff throughout the hotel were very polite and friendly, all the leisure facilities were very pleasing and brilliant value for money. we had an evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant which was very good , I was even made chocolate custard by the chef to go with my chocolate pudding, which was a really nice gesture I thank the chef and the waiter for that.

Hotel

Was disappointed with the hotel. The bathroom tap was covered in lime scale and when the showers were on the noise in the bedroom was very loud

poor customer service

when we book into an hotel we dont expect to go into a garden lodge although it was ok, they should say at time of booking, the pool was great and the breakfast was very good but the service was of a very poor standard. no decent brandy in the bar.

Suffolk weekend away

Posted 11-Mar-2015 on Hotels
We used the Belstead Brook for a weekend away to the Suffolk coast. Most of the reviews I read before booking mentioned the "tired" bathrooms and the room we were given was no exception however both the bedroom and bathroom were clean, functional, and comfortable. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice although the Sunday staff in the breakfast restaurant were not the most welcoming but it was very busy. On the Monday morning it was much quieter and the staff were very friendly and helpful. This hotel is very convenient for Ipswich but it is a 45 minute drive to the coast.
