"Residential hotel near train station / city center"
This hotel is walking distance from the Strasbourg train station, as well as the city center, so it's exceptionally convenient. It's a residential hotel, so the room has a small kitchen and fridge. There are laundry facilities and a small swimming pool, which was exceptionally nice in the 100 degree weather. We'd stay there again.
I booked this hotel for my mum and I after getting very cheap flights via Ryan Air. You can get a short train ride to the centre of Strasbourg from the airport, but beware that at night it becomes a replacement bus and everyone pushes to get on it. The hotel is then a 10 minutes walk down one road from the station. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The rooms are small but are clean and are cleaned daily. They have air con which was a saviour during the hot July days! There are no tea and coffee facilities in the room but there is a 24 hour bar and the hotel are fine about bringing your own food and drink in.
Reception is light and modern with a breakfast room and restaurant attached. We didn't eat at the restaurant as it seemed overpriced (and there is a great diner opposite the hotel) but we did opt to eat breakfast 2 of the 4 mornings at 9.90 euros per person. It is a great continental breakfast including freshly baked bread, cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, coffee. We also took enough for lunch too, so was well worth it. Breakfast is served from 6am until 10am. The restaurant claims to be open from 11am to 11pm but when we asked it shut after lunch until 7pm. But there ar so many beautiful restaurants around the area as you head to Petite France anyway.
There were a couple of problems regarding our key cards getting demagnetised most days and very small towels in the bathroom but for the price we paid, it is an excellent hotel. The drinks are reasonable too.
Cheap and cheerful. I stayed at this hotel for many years before it closed and was re-opened by the current owners. Hotel is a cheap and reasonable option if you are in Strasbourg for a few days, and particularly when the European Parliament meets for its monthly session, finding a room anywhere that isn't very expensive can be a challenge. The rooms are apartment style, and there are hot drink and sweet vending machines in reception. There are only two things you need to be aware of: 1) The cleaning service is at the end of your stay, not daily 2) Some of the rooms back on to the railway line, which can make restful sleep tricky if your room is there. Staff were extremely helpful.
