“Great find”

Great hotel with well equipped, and good looking rooms. Free wi-fi throughout the hotel (high speed). Good free buffet breakfast. Good location. Well worth a visit. Excellent value for money

“Underwhelmed”

The location was convenient but although there was nothing horribly wrong, I would not hurry back. One of the reception staff had an attitude that was indifferent to the point of being rude. The room was small (despite not being the cheapest) and the bathroom was tiny. There was no real shower enclosure, so if there had been two people in the room (as designed) the second person in the bathroom would have had a very wet floor. On the first night I was woken at 5 am to the crashing of breaking glass as the recycling dumpster outside was emptied. The food at the breakfast buffet was fresh and varied, but the restaurant area was very crowded making it hard to get food.

“Very pleased with this hotel”

The Mornington Hotel was a pleasant surprise. It appears to be a business hotel in a very nice neighborhood. We were easily able to walk the few blocks to the Stockholm waterfront. Our room was large, very clean and more than adequate. It was furnished in a Scandinavian somewhat Spartan style, which was all we wanted. Beds were quite comfortable. The breakfast was positively outstanding with an immense assortment of food - far from the typical breakfast one finds in a three star American hotel. Staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. My only complaint was the lack of a stand on which to place a heavy suitcase, thus requiring me to leave the suitcase open on the floor, which I found awkward and difficult. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it highly. It was a good buy in a very expensive city. We loved the nearby open air market and the variety of interesting shops.

“Friendly service.”

Nice hotel...quiet and close to Gamla Stan. Nice, but restaurant was closed when I visited, and this wasn't advertised when I booked. I wouldn't have chosen the hotel had I known. Towels weren't always changed every day, but the staff were friendly and always willing to help. Would go back for the location alone. Stockholm is amazing.

“OK hotel”

Good hotel. The bar was closed for renovation and couldn't drink in the lobby. For some reason I got a smaller room than the others who booked the same room. Not much going on around the area and you have to walk 10-15 min walk to the clubs, and there were no bars around or open fast food place during the night. Close to the subway station which is convenient.

“Nice hotel in good location”

Friendly staff, good location, great breakfast - would definitely go back.

Area recommendations

Gamla Stan is a must. If the weather is nice take a boat trip to one of the islands. We visited Vaxholm and it was lovely.

Getting around

Hirining a bike is a good thing to do. There are plenty of cycle lanes. A sight seeing boat trip is also a great way to get a good view of the city.

“Great location”

Hotel was in a great location for visiting the major spots of Stockholm. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Superb choice of food and drinks at breakfast. Rooms were a little smaller than we had anticpated, but perfectly OK, but no drawer space anywhere. We stayed on an executive package which definitely provided some additional benefits, not least of which was the free meal in the evenings - perfect for staying in on a very cold night ! Would definitely recommend.

Area recommendations

Those visiting Stockholm on a short visit should definitely visit the Royal Palace, walk around Gamla Stan, visit the Vasa Museum (superb) and try a boat trip, even when the water is all iced up.

“Books galore”

The coolest thing about this hotel that you don't realize until you arrive is the vast number of books in the lobby, each room, the dining area, etc. The place is swarming with books, which gives this hotel a unique feel. The hotel is spacious and the rooms are comfortable and clean. The front desk staff were friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is very tasty, but on the weekends it can be a bit crowded, as the locals go there for brunch. I would definitely recommend staying here. We also enjoyed the neighborhood immensely. You are about a 15 min. walk to the central station and old town, however there is quite a bit to see close by to the hotel as well.

Dining

There is an incredible restaurant a few blocks away called "Aubergine" that is delicious. It is pretty busy, so you might want to make a reservation. Great food and hip atmosphere.
