I chose this hotel for a 3 night stay in Stockholm for myself, my mum and my two boys (8 & 5). I wouldn't usually go for a hotel outside of the city, but the comments below convinced me. I was in no way disappointed. The Scandic Star Sollentuna was ideal for our stay: polite and helpful staff, clean modern room, right next to a direct commuter train to Stockholm Central station (very frequent service) and easy to get to from Arlanda airport on public transport. Its location right next to a big shopping mall means you can check out the clothes/gifts/toys shops all in one go, and experience some of the local delicacies at reasonable cost instead of being trapped in touristland and paying over the odds in central Stockholm. I had booked a family room for the four of us. I expected twin beds for my mum and I, and a double sofabed for my boys to share. The room was partitioned so we were able to read in bed while not keeping the kids up with the light, and the boys had their own beds (one single sofa bed and one foldable guest bed) in the 'living area'. This meant we didn't have much room to move around, but as we spent most of our days in Stockholm, it wasn't too much of an issue. Room/bathroom in excellent condition: recently redecorated, one bath + one large walk-in shower in the bathroom. The included breakfast was excellent too. Large selection of hot and cold buffet items and lots of types of bread (very fresh, tasted homemade!). Kids love it too!
Loved Stockholm. Beautiful city, amazing architecture and so easy to get around. The Hotel was in a great location and the staff gave great recommendations for dining and sight seeing. I would also highly recommend purchasing a "stockholm pass" at the airport when you arrive--it easily pays for itself after the third use when you are sightseeing or using the local buses/water transportation!
"Very nice hotel near Stockholm's Arlandia airport"
The hotel was very clean, breakfast buffet offered a lot of variety with fresh juice, fruit, eggs, cold cut meats, hot food, bread, and pastry...etc. It was very good. The free yellow shuttle bus runs every 10-15 mins between 4AM to midnight, which is very conveniently right outside of terminal.
Everyone in the staff was super nice and patiently explained what were covered in the fee and the services provided. I would definitely come back and stay again.
10 Days in a most beautiful city was made really comfortable by staying at this hotel. Right from the start the hotel staff were friendly, polite and ready to help with any enquiry. The rooms were on the small side, but clean, comfortable and with excellent showers. The breakfast was top class and mainly of the continental variety (hams, cheeses, different varieties of bread, yogurts, cake, fresh veg and fruit, eggs, juices etc.). A great way to start the day. The hotel had a good little gym with free weights, machines, treadmills, rowing machines etc. and also a small swimming pool. There were different lounges which gave guests ample space to socialise and have a beer or wine bought from the bistro bar. The hotel is located conveniently for getting into Stockholm Central (approx. 15 minutes by public transport). Overall a really nice place to use as a base and very highly recommended.
I found the hotel staff to be friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and very quiet and the hotel situated very conveniently to travel around Stockholm County. I slept better in the hotel than I do at home as there was hardly any noise from the street or in the hotel itself. I did want private facilities and was thankfully able to change to a room with a private bathroom which I much preferred. The room was comfortable and as a single female traveller I found the area safe and at no time did I feel that being on my own was a problem. The breakfast was plentiful and there was tourist information near reception. The wi-fi worked in the shared areas. I found it so easy to travel around as the public transport is excellent. It is expensive to eat and drink out but there is a fairly large supermarket very close by where you can buy provisions. I loved my break in Sweden and would recommend it to anyone.
