Amaranten Restaurant - Contemporary restaurant characterised by low lighting, mocha-coloured fabrics, polished dark-wood floors and furnishings, and black and white photographic prints from the archipelago. Serves modern international a la carte fare, typified by dishes such as Blackened Salmon with Wasabi Reduction, Fillet of Blue Marlin in Puff Pastry and Roasted Lamb with Crispy Feta Rolls. Open for lunch and dinner.

Amaranten Bar & Lounge - Lively, informal bar used as the setting for the ‘Drickbart' television programme. White columns and polished wooden floors are complemented by black tables and leather sofas, dark-chocolate fabrics, and red floor-length drapes. The lounge area features silver wallpaper with floral patterns and hosts exhibitions of painting and photography. Serves a selection of wines, beers, spirits and cocktails and offers a bar menu of light dishes such as Toast with Swedish Crayfish and Potato Tortilla with Chorizo. Open daily until late.

Breakfast Room -Large, bright dining area hosting photographic exhibitions. Serves hot and cold breakfast buffets every morning, including meat, cheese, pickled herring, cereal and fresh fruit, with a Japanese breakfast buffet during summer.

“Just Terrible”

The hotel is a very old hotel where they have renovated half and the other half remains with a 60s furniture, the carpets are dirty and smelly, the battub was chipped, the room was not cleaned, as they have not renovated has 1-2 sockets in the room and in modern life we need to use computer, charge mobiles, etc. In the reception there were only 2 employees and you need to queue for at least 20mins to get even the basic of service. There is no concierge that can help you with basic queries and the during the breakfast was so busy as they have clearly filled the hotel without basic service. The hotel was worth the amount we paid. Dont waste your money there.

“Below average for a night in Stockholm.”

For the price the hotel was not very impressive and could best be described as in need of renovation I was not too pleased with my room and will not be recommending it to friends. Staayed at the Raddison for one pound cheaper and found it to be a great hotel that I would definately recommend.

“En upprustning på hissar o frukostkapacitet”

Alldeles för många gäster, med för lite hisskapacitet o dålig logik på dessa skapas en massa köer för upp o nedåtåkande. Hissarna stannar så ofta att det nästa vart komiskt. Köerna för frukost där hotellet ställt upp extra bord o stolar i receptionsområdet kändes inte så fräscht o modernt. Det som var positivt var läget.

“Hôtel en pleine rénovation!”

J'ai reservé dans cet hôtel une chambre au tarif le moins cher, en me fondant sur la description d'Expedia, or celle-ci s'est révélée fausse : pas de minibar dans la chambre, même pas de quoi se faire un café! Une fois arrivée, j'ai vérifié directement sur le site de l'hôtel, et en effet, ma chambre était tout à fait conforme à leur description officielle! Passée cette déception, il faut avouer que l'hôtel était plutôt classe, grand lobby, bar lounge et restaurant, magasin de souvenirs, spa et centre de remise en forme, buffet du petit déjeuner copieux et varié. L'hôtel est en pleine rénovation, et en octobre 2011, toutes les chambres auront été redécorées... Malheureusement la mienne était encore "ancien modèle" - et même si elle était propre et fonctionnelle, il est clair qu'elle était assez vieillotte (carreaux de la salle de bain...). Le staff était très cordial et professionnel, et le séjour s'est déroulé sans le moindre problème. La nuit le quartier, plutôt résidentiel, est très calme et il est facile d'y trouver le sommeil.

Area recommendations

Skansen - toute la Suède réunie à Djurgården : vieux villages, animaux sauvages... Gamla Stan, bien sûr... Le Historiska Museet, pour ceux qui veulent découvrir l'histoire du pays, et le Nordiska Museet, pour ceux qui veulent découvrir la culture suèdoise. Et surtout, ne pas hésiter à se "perdre" dans la ville, la meilleure façon de découvrir des lieux insolites.

“First Amaranten”

Hotel très bien placé, près du métro, de la mairie, dans un quartier calme et propre. Personnel accueillant. Stockholm est une ville magnifique.

“Hotel Amaranten in Stockholm liegt sehr Zentral”

Gutes Hotel in zentraler Lage, nähe des Hauptbahnhofes und des Busbahnhofes. Altstadt und Teil der Sehenswürdigkeiten aber auch gut zu Fuß erreichbar. Busstation gleich um die Ecke. Hotel sehr groß aber sauber mit freundlichem Personal. Am Wochenende am Frühstücksbüffet nur großer Andrang, aber Personal flott und schnell. Große Auswahl beim Frühstück. Hatten leider ein kleines Zimmer, aber für eine Städtetour war es ausreichend. Zimmer sauber. Würde dieses Hotel auf jeden Fall wieder buchen.
