“Perfect in every way!”

I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. Its in a perfect location, across the road from both the rail (Centralstation) and Bus (City Terminalen)- when you arrive from Arlanda airport, it is so convenient. But its main convenience is for the city itself - The main shopping areas are a few minutes walk away. Also have perfect access to many key bus routes right outside the hotel, and are right next to the main Underground station, T-Centralen - From a location point of view, it cant be beaten (and i know Stockholm very well) The hotel itself is very clean and tidy - The rooms (we stayed in two single rooms), were not huge, but perfectly reasonable for a city centre hotel - I saw into a few others during the stay, and they all looked of a very good size. They are well appointed, and clean and tidy - Nice showers and bathrooms too. Great for the money, and as base for exploring the city they are ideal. The hotel offers breakfast which is the usual continental selection - hams and cheeses, and a variety of breads - but also hot food, including bacon, scrambled egg, sausage (Swedish style frankfurters - which are yummy), and meatballs (it is Sweden after all!). Also nice pastries, cereals, coffee, tea, make your own toast. They also serve coffee and cakes from 2pm each day, for free, which is great, in the lobby bar. Staff were very friendly, and very helpful - Special mention for Annika, who was so helpful in printing off our boarding passes. Cannot recommend hotel enough!

Area recommendations
I would recommend visiting Djurgarden - Take the the Djurgarden ferry from Slussen/Gamla Stan (the old town) - Walk back via Strandvagen. Also, take the 'Under the Bridges' boat tour from outside the Grand Hotel - very interesting and an ideal way to see Stockholm - from the water looking back. Museums - The Vasa Museum is a must - the best museum I have been to personally. Also of note is the Nordisk Museum on Djurgarden. Skansen (also on Djurgarden), is the Swedish folk museum, and is well worth visiting too, but does involve a lot of walking so bear this in mind if you are of limited mobility. If you are not, it is one of my favourite places. You must try the traditional Swedish Korv, or 'hot dogs' - there are many kiosks selling these around the city, but my personal favourites are Klaragrillen on Drottninggatan, and Wurren on Vasagatan - Mmmm!

“Excellent hotel in a great location”

The Central hotel was just that - in a great central location near to the train and bus station which made it an easy trip from Arlanda airport. The hotel was very good value for money and the people on reception were friendly and spoke excellent english. The breakfast was excellent and there was plenty to choose from. I thought it was a lovely touch that tea, coffee, fresh cake and biscuits were provided as a complimentary service in the lounge area throughout the day and as we were visiting in the summer we could sit on the terrace with a cup of tea before changing to go out for dinner. I would certainly recommend this hotel.

Area recommendations
We enjoyed watching the changing of the guard and took the "hop on, hop off" boat trip and also the bus trip. Stockholm is an easy city to walk around and everyone was very pleasant and friendly. I particularly liked Gamla Stan, the old town, which was very picturesque
Getting there
We took the bus from Arlanda airport into the bus station in Stockholm which was very efficient and on time and it only took 35 minutes. It seemed to be the cheapest option.
Must see
Changing of the Guard at the Palace which takes place daily. The timetable is posted outside the Palace. The "hop on hop off" boat trip was lovely and we also took the "hop on hop off" bus trip which enabled us to see a lot of Stockholm in a limited time.

“Would stay again.”

Perfect location.Extremely good value for money. Was very dated and a bit run down, but all other positives, far out weighed this small detail. Everything wit in walking distance, including bus and train station, which was across the road.

Area recommendations
Perfect area
Getting there
Use the bus. It's cheaper than thectrain and half the cost of a taxi for 2 . There is an express bus which is faster.

“Nice central hotel”

Nice hotel. Location is good, with , many stores (mcdonalds, pubs, bars, markets) nearby. Really close to train station. Confortable walking distance to historic center and tourist atractions. Nice breakfast, with lots of itens. The only downside is that my room was very small. But I got a very cheap single bed price, so I think the other normal rooms should be fine. Besides being small, it was confortable, with nice furnishing and lcd tv. No complaints.

Area recommendations
Gamla Stan is very nice, but the area around the central station is very nice as well. Great city to walk around in.

“unsuspecting gem of a hotel”

Absolutely amazing hotel. It's located quite centrally and directly across from the train station so it's super easy to get anywhere. From the outside it does not look like it is anything special (in fact I was a little scared when I saw the hotel's sign), but inside it is quite lovely. The room was perfect - cozy, comfortable bed, lovely bathroom with a rain shower, flat screen tv with numerous English-language programing. It also has free wireless internet and a spectacular breakfast. I got a really good deal and was beyond surprised. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and I would even pay double of what I payed (which is about the regular price per night) to stay here again. I can't say enough wonderful things about this hotel.

Dining
There's an amazing and reasonably priced restaurant just around the corner from the hotel. I don't remember the name, but if you turn right when you leave the hotel, it is on the corner of the next block.

“Bombastic Hotel!”

We arrived quite late at night and were dropped by the central station in Stockholm. The hotel was really close so was a nice easy walk. Staff were friendly and helpful. Although the room was quite small and didn't have coffee/tea facilities it was very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the Sven Erikssons favourite classical songs that came with the room. The bathroom was by far the nicest bit of the room, under floor heating and a massive shower head. Breakfast is great with plenty of options. I would definitely stay here again and we got a great deal!

Area recommendations
Although we stayed in the center of Stockholm I would definitely recommend the Sodermalm area. If you're from London, it reminds me very much of Shoreditch. Lots of cool shops and cosy warm cafes and bars.

“Location Location Location”

Not only is this a good place to arrive it's fine as a base for many of Stockholm's attractions. First things first - as you get off the Arlanda Express (20 minutes from the airport) you cross the road and there you are. A nice little lobby with free coffee, tean and newspapers and friendly check in. Rooms are small but comfortable. There's a perfectly serviceable breakfast buffet included. When it's time to go out, lots is walkable - the quay for sightseeing trips, the Stadhuset and the main squares are less than ten minutes walk. For further afield there's a T-bana station outside (closed when I went) and Central Staion 5 minutes away.

Traveller's tip
It's got to be the Stockholm Card if you're going to be doing the attractions. All public transport is free as is a sightseeing boat trip with discounts on others, plus 75 museums and attractions. It's widely available including at the hotel and is vaid for 1, 2 or 3 days.
