Excellent hotel

Posted 27-Aug-2014
Pros: Friendly staff, comfortable room and good food.
Location: Stirling interesting town and enjoyable walks by the river.
Very picturesque setting by the lake. Dining room looks onto the lake and breakfast and dinner were very good. Good centre for countryside and Stirling.

Fredeligt

Posted 13-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
Virkelig fint og fredeligt beliggende lille hotel med god service. Store rabatter kan opnås ved bookning i sidste øjeblik. Restauranten er virkelig fin - til gengæld er restauranterne i den nærliggende landsby temmelig ringe.

Don't normally write reviews, but felt this particular hotel was excellent, had friendly staff, good service and lovely food and drink. Will highly recommend, and would book a lake view suite next time...

Great hotel in a great location

Posted 15-Jul-2014
Location: Lots of cycle routes and walks in the local area. Callander is very close which is where we started our ride from, all day parking only £2.50.
We stayed for two nights whilst doing some cycling in the area. We wanted somewhere cheap but nice and the Lake hotel was perfect. Well priced comfortable rooms with nice little touches to make them more special. The restaurant is great too and serves fresh local produce. We ate both nights at the hotel as it was so good and not pricey. I'd recommend this to anyone as breakfast looking out of the lake was amazing!

Fantastic location for a rural holiday in Scotland

Posted 21-Jun-2014 on Hotels.com
I came here on a business trip and although the hotel has a few short-comings ie breakfast does not start until 8am, you simply have to forgive all that for the fantastic surroundings and views across the lake. If you are a tourist seeking a get away in rural Scotland, I personally think you would be hard pushed to better the location here. You will need your own transport to get here. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was of good quality and reasonably priced.

Nice hotel with beautiful location

Posted 15-Jun-2014
Pros: Location
Cons: More comfortable bed
Nice relaxing overnight, location really is the selling point with hotel overlooking the lake. Really peaceful. Breakfast and dinner were lovely. Booking comes with afternoon tea, although the scones were disappointing! Room lovely, only issue was the beds were too hard, and I do like a hard bed!

Beautiful setting overlooking the lake.

Posted 10-Jun-2014
Pros: It is a wonderful location, and has fine views over the lake.
Cons: Allow people to sit where they want. I wanted to sit at the window; was asked to move and ate in the bar instead whilst the window table lay unused.
Location: Lots of good shops in Callendar which isn't far
Most staff very helpful and welcoming. However, just a small thing worth mentioning - in the evening we noticed that a table was available at the window and it wasn't set for dining so we sat there with our drinks. We were asked to move, as it was there for dining only (even though it wasn't set). We moved to the bar and after our drinks we ordered food. We were asked to dine in the bar rather than sit at the window table we had chosen earlier even though that table at the window (and others like it) remained unoccupied the whole evening. Why have a beautiful setting and then not allow overnight guests the opportunity to enjoy it? I didn't like that.

Great hotel, lovely location. Limited options on what to do when it's chucking it down with rain but still very nice to sit in the conservatory and look out over the lake
