A good hotel in Stirling

Posted 21-Apr-2015
I wanted a reasonably priced hotel in a quiet location in Stifling with access to a swimming pool for my daughter. The Stifling Court hotel was suggested and lived up to my expectations very well. Stirling's University is a short bus ride from Stirling city centre yet the location is beautiful, quiet and well serviced; close to good places to eat, a cinema and bars. Stifling Court Hotel is based on the university campus and is more aimed at conference delegates and university visitors but my seven year old daughter was given a lovely welcome by the receptionist. Our room was a good size, very clean and with a comfy bed. We slept well and were not disturbed. Breakfast was a bit bland and ordinary and I can't help feeling that more could have been made of the wonderful ingredients available in Scotland, like real jam and marmalade, Scottish cheese and artisan bread but I suppose they need to keep cost down! The highlight of our stay was the free use of the Scottish National Swimming Centre which is part of the university campus. It was a lovely facility and we had a great time there. My daughter want to go there again and I expect we will :-)

Good experience

Easy check in and check in staff very friendly and efficient. Room comfortable. Didn't have an evening meal at the hotel as my business was off site but enjoyed a couple of drinks in the bar. Was a bit noisy in the corridors due to a student function but not a major issue once in my room. Breakfast staff seemed a bit like they were doing you a favour but the food was ok.

Excellent hotel on university campus !

Pros: Convenience and comfort of hotel.
Location: Out of Bridge of Allan, lovely Victorian spa town. Very attractive setting.
Stayed here on business as conference was held at same hotel the following day. A little out of the attractive town but very good food on offer and helpful staff. Nice clean and spacious room. Very comfortable, would use personally.

Great hotel with close by attractions.

Pros: Everything.
Cons: The walls are a bit thin.
Location: Lots to do nearby, lovely views and very historic attractions to visit.
No hassle, relaxing weekend. Great service, nice rooms, bar, restaurant and easy parking. Excellent value for money!

Wouldn't stay here again!

Stayed here for 3 nights over Xmas. The staff were very good but it's the rooms that let the place down. Very small rooms with dull decor and uncomfortably small beds. The walls are paper thin so you can hear any noise from next door. Breakfast was fine, parking was free and housekeeping kept the room clean everyday. We payed £45 a night, so I suppose we shouldn't have expected much. Probably ok for a one night stay but three nights was a struggle

Value for money

We got a discounted room and it was the appropriate price for what we got. The hotel itself is lovely, very clean, bright, and airy. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was fantastic! The room however was is in need of some renovation: the bath had slightly odd wood panelling around it and felt a bit grubby with age. The bed was a standard double so felt small compared the queen/king size beds that we normally have in other hotels. The good news is that I got the impression that the hotel is undergoing renovation so I imagine many of these problems will be sorted out. All in all, a pleasant stay and I'd recommend it.

Lovely staff, convenient location.

Visiting my son at the University so very handy and great value. The staff were all great, very welcoming and helpful. The room was spacious and clean but the carpet was stained and there's no tea/coffee making stuff which would have been nice. Overall a good option for a couple of days.
