Slightly Adequate

Posted 11-Oct-2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Desperately needs updating
First, they don't have a street address so if you are trying to find it with you GPS at night - good luck. If you try by postal code it will get you close but not right to it, stop and ask for help. Second, I think it was an average place in the 1980's and nothing seems to have been done to upgrade or update since then. The staff was friendly, and there is free parking. I could compare this place to a old basic motel, if basic North American motel is what you want this is it.

Oh dear!

Posted 30-Aug-2014
Pros: Pleasant, friendly and courteous staff.
Cons: Clean the carpet. Repair the bathroom fan. Lack of an easily accessible lift is a major problem. Feedback requested but not even acknowledged.
Location: Isolated position on a university campus. Pleasantly quiet.
There is no lift in or near the reception area. My disabled wife and I had to struggle up a very steep flight of stairs. Almost impossible to open the bedroom door due to ill fitting lock. Fan in bathroom not working. Carpet in bedroom was filthy. Picture fastened to wall at a very strange angle. No response to questionnaire, even though contact details were requested. Astonishing to think that this hotel is part of a management school as all of the very obvious faults would be apparent to even the most appallingly bad management. I visited this hotel because I knew Tom Cottrell (the University of Stirling's first Principal). He was a perfectionist and would be very disappointed if he could see the state of the carpet in a bedroom in the Management Centre.

Not suited to leisure travellers

Posted 24-Aug-2014
Cons: They need to rethink what they are providing for the leisure market and re-train staff accordingly. There is no sense of 'hospitality' at all.
A disappointing experience. This is located on a beautiful university campus and could be an excellent facility. We found the reception staff surly and unwelcoming; we paid extra for a room 'with a view' and got one which looked out on to the back of other buildings; Saturday breakfast finished at 9am (we asked politely on Friday night whether this was correct and were told 'we're a conference facility'); the build quality is poor with no sound insulation meaning that you can hear people walking by your room very loudly even if they are not talking or being heavy-footed. Breakfast was ordinary in a cavernous dining hall which presumably is used as a conference/exhibition room when required. Such a shame, such a wasted opportunity!

Nice place. Not quite worth the money though

If your are driving yourself and don't have a data plan for gps this place can be pretty hard to find. The restaurant is really good. The rooms are small and nothing fancy. Not quite worth what we paid for, but still comfortable. If we had stayed longer in Stirling would have looked for something closer to town and better priced.

Great Business Location

Posted 11-May-2014 on Hotels.com
I have been staying at Stirling Management Center for a couple of years and is perfect for my needs. Very near (2.5 miles) from my Alloa Service Center. Food is excellent and a good choice of bar or restaurant menus with daily specials. Breakfast again excellent with good choice of either cereals, fruit full cooked breakfast or continental style. Room is minimalist but nevertheless fully equipped including access to ethernet or Cloud wifi. Good high pressure shower within batch so both catered for. Plenty of free secure parking. Full leisure facilities available on the University campus incl. Olympic size swimming pool, weights & running machines etc. Overall for the price offers great value and I'll continue to use without any reservation and is highly recommended.

Worst hotel I've stayed in

Posted 06-Apr-2014 on Hotels.com
This was a terrible experience, I stayed here for 2 nights but couldn't bare anymore, I moved to the Sterling Highland Hotel which was a much nicer experience. The only thing I enjoyed about this hotel was the meal we had for dinner in the restaurant. The other staff where rude and unwelcoming. I can't believe how highly rated this hotel is after reading the reviews. Will not go back, much better options in Stirling on all accounts.
