A great stay in a lovely hotel

Posted 06-Jul-2012
Pros: Food
Cons: None
Location: In a nice residential area convenient for Falkirk
Surpised at how big the room was. The food was quite superb and the welcome by the staff was nice. I would certainly want to take my family go a stay

Very poor

Pros: The wedding meal was excellent
Cons: Poor service and shabby decor.
The decor in the rooms is old and shabby and the breakfast was very poor.

It was OK. Disaapointed we didnt get a room in the Castle.

Location was good. Service was fair. They didn't go out of their way to do anything extra. When we asked to use the business center they said they would be right over to open it but did not come. When we did get a key we still couldn't get in and never did.

Good value

This hotel met my expectations, easily found and a good location for East-Central Scotland.

Drab and plain

Posted 21-Mar-2007
We were very excited to saty in a real castle. The building is impressive. The room was a nice sized mini-suite, but the walls were plain white with no pictures. The interior was in the middle of a new paint job throughout, which was badly needed. All available amenities are at the hotel, which is a short walk from the castle. The castle bar is only used for private parties, so do not expect to relax down there. Walking through the halls was a neat experience, as they wind up and down. The hotel pool was great, as was dinner. All in all, there are better castles to experience. Unfortunatley, many are seasonal, so we had to settle for Airth this time.

Would stay at again

You do not stay in the Castle but in a separate building. Out of town so either need a car, take a taxi or ride the bus. Location had its advantages quite/not rushed and disadvatages getting around easily. One restaraunt onsite - high priced except for breakfast buffet. No other restaraunts close by. Very very small(2 aisles)grocery in Airth 5 min walk. Laundry machines-none, Iron-yes, Rooms-Avg size(big for Europe from what I hear), Hot Water kettle-yes. No air condition and window only opens at top about 3 inches. Very hot but trip was during a hot weather week in the 70's. For a hotel in Europe I would say this is a nice hotel for the price.
