lovely hotel

Posted 13-Jun-2014
Pros: trip adviser
Cons: not impressed with bathroom across the hall,
Location: great location loads of circular walks, close to Shoreham and the coast, lots to see and do,
we stayed for 2 nights in a lovely big room, only negative was we had to cross the landing to our bathroom! taps were broken on the bath and literally came off in your hand, apart from that a nice clean hotel with good food reasonably priced, friendly helpful staff, in a great village, would go back and would recommend,

Beautiful location, great off street parking

Creaky floorboards, paper thin walls and our bathroom was across the hallway instead of ensuite. The king bed was 2 singles pushed together. Good sky tv in the room. Great access to free wifi, definitely needed in this location.

Lovely hotel close to Brighton

Posted 01-Apr-2014
Pros: Friendly atmosphere and everywhere was very clean.
Cons: There was no menu, no information on meal times and no note of the wifi code in the room. You need to go back to the bar. which is really strange
Location: Near Brighton. Bramber castle and church are well worth seeing and Stenying is delightful. The local countryside is beautiful.
We had low expectations but were really impressed. We were greeted by friendly bar staff who took us up to a freshly decorated room with en suite. Everything was super clean. We ate in the bar and the food was good and the breakfast was lovely too. We will return next time we are visiting relatives in Brighton. My only niggle was that there was no information in the room, see below and that the menu we were given had a tiny selection of food. Once we got to the bar however there was a screen with a good selection of food and it was really tasty. We nearly didn't eat at The Castle Inn Hotel. A little improvement in customer information on arrival would make this hotel superb.

Friendly hotel in lovely village setting

Posted 17-Mar-2014
Pros: Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Breakfast was very nice. Room and ensuite was very clean and had all the basics. Lovely wonky building.
Cons: D├ęcor/furniture/fittings etc could be improved - would have expected a bit better quality especially for the price paid for that room.
Location: Bramber castle / ruin and moat right next to hotel - nice for a picnic and stroll on a dry day.
Took a family room for a Saturday night. Enjoyed the quiet location conveniently close to our friends in Shoreham.

Alarming

Posted 08-Mar-2014
Pros: Has a bar
Cons: Showers, decor, pillows, fire alarms
Fire Alarm went off at 5.45, scared the living hell out of me. No apology from owners on check out. Room dark shabby, Shower just a trickle, Very tired feeling. Cheap but I've stayed in Budget Ibis's even cheaper and nicer.

Traditional & great value

Posted 29-Dec-2013 on Hotels.com
The Castle is a traditional old pub, with sloping ceilings wonky stairs and creaking floors, but that was okay by us. The room was snug and clean but there was a bit of noise from neighbouring rooms. The staff were friendly and the food and beer very good quality, we stayed at Christmas and we received a seasonal gift as extra, a nice touch. Nice little village convenient for Brighton/ Downs, we would stay again

Disappointing.

Posted 26-Nov-2013
Pros: not a lot
Cons: Cleanliness..professionalism. Cleanliness.Professionalism.
Location: Location good--lovely village.Nearby Steyning had a variety of individual, independant shops, that were a joy to mooch around.
Hotel more like rooms in a Pub.Would have liked more choice at breakfast i.e. yoghurts, fruit etc. Shower room little bigger than a cupboard--cloakroom size sink-barely managed to get in the shower and neither my husband nor I are oversized! Thankfully it was just 2 nights--we were out during the day visiting friends and relations in the area. Reception area non-existent--sign over corner of the bar! Would not go back again.
