The hotel was beautiful. Bed amazingly comfortable. The staff-incredibly helpful and friendly. Our friends we were traveling with had an issue with their reservation and the manager of the hotel got them a place to stay right across the street in a beautiful apartment.
The location of the hotel cannot be beat. Restaurants and shopping right next to it.

The hotel is up a very bumpy gravel road but worth the slow drive once you get there.
Lovely spacious room, we stayed in room 1 and had petals left around the room on arrival. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great with continental options or cooked fresh options.
There were a few minor issues with lighting, as some bulbs didn't work and trying to find the right switch for the right light was a challenge, but minor issues.
It was a shame the restaurant at the hotel wasn't serving evening meal but they offer a cheese platter.
On the whole a very enjoyable stay and we would definitely visit again.

Upon arrival the receptionist took note that it was our anniversary, by the time we went to the room there was a Chenin Blanc (my favourite wine) and a card signed by the GM to congratulate our celebration. What remarkable service this was, since our booking was made minutes before arrival. The location is wonderful if your interested in visiting all the close-by Vineyards. We will definitely return soon.
Simply wonderful small boutique lodge surrounded by vineyards. Only 6 rooms make it a personalized and charming place to stay. Wonderful staff, good food and gorgeous views. Some road noise when motorcycles pass by on the mountain pass, but otherwise no complaints at all. We could walk to several wineries and a short 1-2 minute drive up hill to Del Aire and Tokara wineries for the "snobby" experience and only a short walk (5 minutes) to three of four wineries that were "down-to-earth", friendly, relaxing and not crowded. Best of both.... You likely need a rental car for dinner as the lodge only serves breakfast. That being said, they will serve a wonderful cheese plate with wine for dinner if you get in a pinch. Banhoek's location cannot be beat if you want to be both high end wineries and relaxing, laid back ones too. Not walking distance to town - about 15 minutes by car - but why would you want to be in Stellenbosch when you can stay here and be surrounded by vineyards, gorgeous views and in a charmingly run small boutique B&B? I recommend this place highly. Simply put, it is fantastic. You really have to say here if you want an "authentic" personalized experience. (Also, word of warning - probably not a place for families with children. More of a romantic BB spot.)
Great staff, environment, views, but could do with some slight renovation in the overall decor. Family friendly, food to die for, and on a street with some great vineyards and very little traffic. If you want a chill stay then rent a car, pick this place, and travel all over Stellenbosch and the vicinity.
Surrounded by mountains and known as the City of Oaks, the picturesque town of Stellenbosch is the oldest European settlement in the Western Cape Province after Cape Town. Visitors here can head to the oldest music school in South Africa, discover some of the best examples of Cape Dutch architecture, enjoy the oldest wine route in the country, or visit the nearby Jonkershoek Nature Reserve.
