“Great location”

High quality hotel, good service and an unbeatable location in Stavanger. My only regret is that I was only there one night.

“Convenient and comfortable.”

Travelling offshore, this was a last minute booking. Have stayed at this hotel 5 times. Check in always very efficient, with English speaking staff. The public transport airport / heliport transfer bus departs from the hotel entrance (90 kroner as of July 2010) and takes approx 25 minutes. Much cheaper than a taxi. Hotel is less than 5 minutes walk to the bars and restaurants around the harbour.

“Getting Worn - needs renovation”

I stayed in one of the older rooms, which has a woven leather trim on most of the furniture (wardrobe, headboard, desk, etc). The leather is worn down with some of the bits frayed and sticking out. It's really not acceptable and needs to be renovated ASAP. The blackout curtain was also in poor condition, although I know it gets a lot of use during those long days of summer. The public areas of the hotel are fine.

Area recommendations

Any part of Stavanger around the harbor is very charming - it's a walkable city if you don't mind a few hills - "gamle" or old Stavanger is charming and the bars around the harbor are great for sitting with a drink, people-watching and hanging with friends. They even provide fleece blankets in case it's chilly! Also check out some of the cafe's and shops in the streets above the oil museum - a more low-key atmosphere for herbal tea, coffee or a snack. There's also a great Thai restaurant - wish I had noted the name or street.

“Solid but unexciting”

This hotel is quite adequate. It is from the '70's so not in its first flush, but it is good value, by Norwegian standards. The buffet breakfast is served until 11 every day, and has a good range of food available, although the cheese looked a bit dry in some cases. Free internet access is good.

Area recommendations

The centre of town and 'Gamle Stavanger' the old workers' houses are both quaint. Eating out is about twice as expensie as the UK, but the standard of the food is good. Stavanger has more bars per head than anywhere else in Norway, so it can be lively in the evening, and all of the clubs and bars are cheek by jokl in the centre.

“Hotel is in need of refurbishment”

Small rooms. We had one at the back of the hotel with only a view of the next wall. Free internet if you bring your ownlap otherwise they charge you GBP17 per hour to use the business centre. Overpriced

“gerne wieder”

Selten fühlten wir uns am morgen in einem Hotel so ausgeruht. Die Betten waren ausgezeichent. Auch das Personal beim Frühstück war sehr zuvorkommen.
