Just simply the Best!

Posted 11-May-2015
Pros: See above--absolutely everything.
Cons: Not a single thing comes to mind, unless they wanted to make it free--but then either they couldn't stay in business or we could never get a room.
Location: Greenwich Avenue is two blocks up the street--nothing more needs to be added
Everything about this treasure is superb. The staff are warm and welcoming. The reception are is lovely and that follows throughout the entire hotel. Spacious halls, lovely color combinations, all in top condition and looking brand new and elegant. The room was more than comfortable, with luxurious bed sheets and pillows, working temperature controls, small ice box, and ice for drinks delivered every evening. The bathroom you'd like to take home. On the way out every morning we were delighted to find a continental breakfast in the same high standards as everything else. Stay here if you want a real treat!

Convenient weekend pampering

Posted 04-May-2015
Cons: The complimentary continental breakfast was good but a bit sparse.
Location: Thai Basil restaurant .3 miles on Railroad Ave. - very good.
Arrived late after a long day and greeted with valet parking and a nice glass of complimentary Champagne. Room was restful and tastefully decorated with marble bath and a window which opened for fresh air. Nice touches such as ice bucket already filled and lighted closet. Enjoyed a walk to the harbor. Breakfast in the room was delicious. Staff very pleasant. Laundry prompt.

Arrived at 955 after all day travel. Food closed at 10 and would t stay open for something easy. Greenwich closes at 10. Staff was very put out. For the prices other hotels would have accommodated. Coffee and tea in the lobby for AM is nice touch but overall found the staff a little snooty

It's STILL only a cheap motel

Posted 27-Feb-2015
Pros: Beautiful location on Greenwich Harbor
Cons: tear down building, hire good architect, create real luxury hotel with nice sized baths, quiet luxurious rooms....
Location: It's downtown Greenwich
Imagine taking a cheap motel, slapping on some marble, paint and Uncle Vinnie's leftover bathroom fixtures from a discount hardware store in Staten Island .... add some very bad examples of pretentious art but don't do ANYTHING about the sound proofing, plumbing, heat... add a very, very bad restaurant.... hire some nice, attractive kids for the front desk ... pretend you are now the Four Season's or Ritz Carlton and charge accordingly!

Puttin On the Ritz

Posted 17-Feb-2015 on Hotels.com
This hotel had been described as a little Ritz, and while it was a nice property it simply did not meet those high expectations. It was nice "but." For example, its nice that the hotel gives you a welcome glass of sparkling wine - but - you have to request it. Its nice that the hotel has a comfortable bed - but - it was not dusted. Its nice that the hotel has a wine and cheese reception -but - they ran out of cheese less than half way through the scheduled time. Its nice that the hotel has a richly appointed marble bathroom - but - the towels were small and thin. The restaurant had great food and was lovely - but - after waiting over 25 minutes for a waiter to even give us a menu we had to ask the hostess to move us to a different station. The hotel was very quiet and the people who worked there were very nice, its location was very convenient to town and the harbor was lovely - but - at the prices charged it really does not deserve the ratings that it is getting.

Best get-away

Posted 03-Nov-2014
Pros: Service/friendliness of staff, free breakfast, free shuttle/drop-off service, top notch amenities, 45 min away from Manhattan!
Cons: Keep up the current charm!
Location: The shore is beautiful, the Bruce Museum exceeded expectations; exceptional local restaurants, including "L'Escale" with live piano music!
We had the best weekend, ever! The Delamar staff was amazing, super friendly and went above and beyond! Our suite had a balcony with gorgeous view of the harbour and the "Indian Summer"-colours all around it! When thinking about a short get-away (from Manhattan), we highly recommend Greenwich...and/or Southport, where Delamar has a sister property...(who wants to go to the Hamptons all the time, anyway!?;)
