“great find”

This Hilton is in a convient location with easy shopping around if you need anything. Travel for business, and the hotel is fabulous. Clean hotel, clean rooms, kind staff, safe area, and restaurants around if you don't use the dining room. Hotel restaurant great basic meals, chef is great. Definately recommend for biz traveling to area, or if need a place to stop.

“"NICE"”

We stayed for an overnight after spending the day in NY. I would stay here again. It was convenient, clean and comfortable. Amazing price for the quality. The staff was very polite.

“Very Happy with this Hotel”

“Perfect for the occasion”

The hotel was very pleasant, clean and comfortable. Gym/pool facilities were small but in good condition, except hot tub was broken. We were visiting friends nearby and only at the hotel two nights. There is no way to walk around the neighbourhood as the hotel is on a busy road with no sidewalk. It's the only place for breakfast which seemed pricey for a serve-yourself buffet.

“Would Stay Again For Sure”

I have never stayed in a hotel in CT because I used to live there, but this was an amazing experience. I booked because of the location and proximity of places I needed to go and I was so pleased. The hotel was very clean. The staff was very helpful. The breakfast plan was amazing, expecially if you have kids. It was definately a place I would go back to if I needed a hotel in CT. I give it a great rating and I am very picky about hotels especially. Try it, you'll love it.

“Noisy Weekend Stay Bring Your Earplugs”

What a noisy four nite stay at this Hilton Garden Inn. Unfortunately our room was near the indoor pool and right next to one of the side exits. There were two weddings and to boot a little league group staying at this hotel. The wedding guests came in at 2:30am and were milling about talking and carrying on in the hallway. I went out and asked them to quiet down. They were apologetic and slowly disipated after another guest came out and yelled at them at 3:00a.m. Complained to the desk manager in the morning. She was courteous and apologetic. Asked if our room could be moved, and she told us that it would be quiet because these wedding guests were leaving. Little did we know that a new wave of wedding guests and little league group were due to arrive and overtake the hotel. Kids were running uncontrolled thru the hallways. Alot of yelling and door slamming on our wing. Complained to a few parents in the hallway to tone down the noise at 11:45p.m. and it disipated about 12:30a.m. only to have the wedding guests come thru the doorway early a.m. On Monday morning, talked to the hotel manager, Mr. Fields about the noise level all over the hotel and whether there was a quiet wing at this hotel. Told him we stay here several times a year because family is up the road. Mr. Fields told us to call the hotel directly before each stay and insist on a quiet room. Hard to do when the whole hotel is booked by groups. SO MAKE SURE TO BRING EARPLUGS WITH YOU.

Area recommendations

Westport, CT...cute village with great shopping. Also Compo Beach in Westport takes day visitors for about $30 a car on weekends.

Outdoors or beach

Compo Beach is a must do.

“Exceeded expectations - and then some!”

This was my first stay at the Hilton Garden Inn. I was extremely impressed with the quality of the facilities, the staff, and the overall experience. I had stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott before and had no complaints about it, but the Hilton Garden Inn really made a strong impression. The rooms were large and comfortable and the complimentary coffee and desserts in the lobby were a nice touch as well. Would definitely stay there again and recommend for others.

“Really impressed - would love to stay again”

My wife and I are from the UK and stayed in Norwalk for a 1-week holiday. We went by train from South Norwalk to Grand Central most days to explore NYC. The hotel offers a great shuttle service (7am to 10:30pm??), which we used to get to South Norwalk station & back. We got an excellent rate over the weekend period, although significantly more for weekdays. All hotel staff were so friendly and really helpful. The room was spacious, comfortable, clean & fresh and the bed was really comfy. There's a microwave and coffee maker. There was plenty of space in the bathroom to spread toiletries etc out on the sink counter. We didn't need to use the aircon so can't comment on that. The wifi worked well as did the business centre. The breakfasts were great; we started each day with a good selection of fresh fruit salads, yoghurts, cooked breakfast (with terrific omelettes cooked to order by the chef), danish pastries, toast etc. This kept us going for most of the day during our visits to NYC. A lovely touch when we got back at the end of each day was the fresh baked cookies and coffee provided in the reception area. We didn't eat evening meals in the hotel, so can't comment on those. We did eat at a great Italian restaurant, the Tuscan Oven, located right next to the hotel. Highly recommended. There's a fair number of shops nearby, including Walmart. Warning! There's a Nine West outlet store really close by that had some real bargains when we visited, so lock up your credit cards guys!

Getting around

The MTA train service between South Norwalk station and Grand Central in NYC is brilliant. Lots of trains at regular intervals. We stayed in Norwalk because we were visiting a relative who was working there, but we actually found it a lot cheaper to stay in a good hotel in South Norwalk and do the 1-hour journey each way into New York city instead of staying in a similar quality NY hotel.
