“A nice hotel, but too many children”

Very nice hotel in a convenient location. We enjoyed the very nice pool and hot tub in the basement. Unfortunately on the Friday night it was taken over by about 10 youngsters. It is good to see young people enjoying themselves but they took over the place, sliding along the floor, jumping into the pool. What made it worse was that the parents watched on, most of them drinking, and simply said to us 'What do you expect? They are only children' . We complained at reception. The handyman smiled as he listened on, as if to say he has seen it all before. The reception area was also very noisy with children running around. So, recommended, but maybe not at weekend.

Area recommendations

We only used this as a stop on the way to New York. A pleasant enough town, but not much to recommend for the average tourist.

“Inadequate”

No cribs available. Mini fridge was VERY loud. Asked for some extra sheets / pillows in order to make a little space for our baby to sleep in (no cribs) - we asked four times, and never got them. Staff had an 'attitude'. This place is not family-friendly.

“OK.”

Standard strength three star hotel; location OK with restaurants nearby. Problem connecting to wireless internet in room but hotel staff very helpful but not terribly knowledgeable re protocol for getting it to work. Eventually, second staff member got it to work.

“Conveniently located”

We chose this hotel to go relax in becasue it is a quick walk to restaurants. We left the car there all weekend and walked which was relaxing. It was a treat not having to drive.

There is always something going on at any one of the theaters in the city.

“going back in the summer”

My wife and stayed for the weekend so she could go to the Rocketts show. They were extremely helpful at the front desk and the room was very comfortable. The shuttle to and from the train station was helpful so we did not use the car. The valet parking worked out well and they only charge you $10 a day. We are planning on staying there in the summer to taken in the city again. This is a great spot to stay and do the New York city scene and not have to drive in and park. I can't say enough great things about the hotel.
