“Good Value, nice people”

For the budget concious traveler, it is hard to beat the price at the Amsterdam Hotel. The bed was comfortable, service absolutely fine, and the idea of giving guests local cable TV with an upper tier package (tons of stations, multiple HBO chanles, etc.) beats the typical Lodgenet or other media service that is really designed to dip into your wallet for "first run" movies..However, for the $99/night price tag understand that blankets are thin, carpeting needs replacing, and one elevator services the multiple floors of the property. The hotel is fine as a place to sleep and is relatively near the Stamford Town Center Mall and numerous dining options (PF Changs, California Pizza, etc...). If pressed to spend $250/night at a middle brand hotel or the Amsterdam, I'd definitely give the Amsterdam consideration.

“Nice people, great price, great location”

There is also a nice busy little Italian restaurant walking distance away that was an unexpected treat after a long work day. Glad to be able to grab a banana and bagel in the morning on my way out.

“My Choice in Stamford”

The Amsterdam claims to be the most affordable hotel in the county. For those who are not on an expense account I agree. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable and include coffee maker, fridge and microwave as well as large flat screen TV. The hotel is within walking distance of downtown Stamford and a large indoor mall. Breakfast is included and, as with others, is heavy to sweets and starches but includes a selection of more healthy fruit.. The building looks more lke an office building than a hotel but I have stayed here before on prior visits and will stay here again in the future.

first the tv didn;t work, had to be replaced. next my door key quit working. they didn't even have a pop or ice machine.

Good hotel, great location, very clean, quiet, good service. Elevators need update. We will look to stay in this hotel in our next trip.

“Will stay again when in Stamford, CT”

This hotel was actually a 2nd choice. When I arrived at the first hotel in Stamford, CT that I had booked via the hotel itself, I was so disappointed. So I cancelled that reservation and found this place on Expedia. The room was a corner room with plenty of room and two walls with all windows. It's located in a residential neighborhood and all and all it was a great place to spend the night.

“1st time in Stamford”

The hotel was very nice, and the staff was helpful. The air in my room (505) only had one speed on the fan and was unable to keep up with the heat but it was OK. The breakfast was very average and there was no air in the common areas or the breakfast room. The elevator also was very slow and small. But over all it was a good place for a Business trip. The internet was fast which helped a lot.

Older hotel, totally renovated, very nice staff. great location and price.

“Excellent Value”

Friendly, Clean, European-like hotel. Older, but well maintained. Price cannot be beat. Elevator a bit slow, but otherwise, no complaints.
