"Pleasant hotel on the beach but got its downsides"
The hotel was overall pleasant but the most annoying part would be its limited food variety. We stayed for 7 nights but found the same food being served almost everyday. The buffet repeats exactly same item. Specially the grills and the white baked fish. They even add the lunch left over to the dinner buffer and cold salads. The a la carte dinner was good but the choice was also limited. There are several restaurants nearby with in 10 mins walk with fresh seafood and offering more variety
All inclusive meant to include international branded spirits but often the bar staff were often only offering local spirits.
The Gym had next to no equipment and most of them doesn't work. The 2 trade mills were broken and other machines were rusty and dirty. We asked for help but no one knew how to help.
The staff in the reception were not the most helpful people and seemed irritated with most questions. The lady with short blonde hair was particularly rude.
The location was excellent. Best place to explore stalis and 2 other popular beaches. Lots of activities just across the hotel. The hotel has lots of bars and restaurants nearby so there's a good nightlife around.
Overall the hotel was very clean and there's excellent transport links to Heraklion city centre and the airport. The bus tickets from the hotel to the airport are only €3.70 and takes around 40 minutes.
The hotel is good for couples and family looking for an all inclusive holiday. There are some kids activities every night
Had a great week at the Anthousa.
Food very good, service superb, all inclusive package genuine. On a good beach, very good room, pools. Adult pool full of kids.
15 Euro deposit for each beach towel. Reduced the Sun bed fiasco as people don't risk losing towel, but many days same old problem where sun beds bagged all day but not used.
Surrounding area down market, nothing Greek, just streets of Irish bars and holiday tat shops selling stuff for twice the price as at home,
Everything outside hotel very expensive due to exchange rate.
Hotel deteriorated since our last visit, looks as though problems don't get fixed.
Beach bar sitting area looks as though it was damaged in the winter and only half repaired.
Tennis court, alongside stinking open sewer, astro turf sunk in one hole 4 inches deep, guanteed damaged ankle.
Staff great, Duty / assistant manager very kind when we asked to pay for a guest to visit for a day.
Be aware if you don't book a sea or side sea view you may end up in Annex across the the road which would be very disappointing especially if you have kids.
Be happy to go back.
This has to be the best self catering apartment we have used .We have used as many as 25 over a number of years visiting the Greek Islands. From the moment of arrival we were warmly greeted by Rayleigh who despite being busy in the bar and preparing meals carried our case up the numerous steps to our room. We did have great difficulty finding the Bella Visit as the address from Expedia did not mention Stallis so the Sat Nav. was of no use, we did pay a taxi driver to lead us there but be aware there are 3 Bella Vista s in the area. When looking at the view from the balcony it is easy to see why this property is called Bella Vista. It is important to note the description that the informs you that this would not be suitable for anyone who has difficulty in walking or climbing. We had hired a jeep and the area has plenty of good beaches, interesting towns and mountainous terrain to visit. A short walk downhill takes you into Stallis , a town that has plenty of good eating places a more crowded beach as well as water sports for the more active.Remember though that it is a steep walk back up to the hotel. The swimming pool is lovely The Saturday night bar b q excellent value and Maria and her 4 members of staff all went out of their way to be friendly. We met other families on return visits and hopefully we will be returning now we know how to get there.
We loved our stay at Matamy beach hotel our room was large and comfy Yanni the cleaning lady was lovely ans Kostas was really nice small problem with the pool was cold and a little small for me but i,m sure its ok for some people We were right in the center of town which was great there was a little train that went to Malia a town not so far away which if you are ahtletic you could walk to
Very nice clean and practical apartments only 10 minutes walk from the centre, so really quiet at night, and only 2 minutes from the sea front. Excellent Staff, very friendly and willing to help. Billy is the star, anything you want, any time he's there - nothing it too much trouble.
"A fantastic hotel to relax and have a fab holiday!"
This is my second time at hotel Anastasia in Crete. It is a 3 star hotel with 5 star hospitality! It may not be big and flashy but what it lacks in extras, it truly makes up for in character, cleanliness and friendliness. It was the first time for my daughter and she loved it, there was just enough things for her to do, we didn't use the kids club but the person who runs it is friendly and it was there if we needed it. For the money the hotel is a real gem of a place. We will be back!
Anastasia Hotel is a fabulous 3 star family resort on Crete in Stalida with own restaurants, entertainment programs, and …More
This beach destination on the north coast of Crete boasts all the ingredients for a sunny getaway. Bars and tavernas populate the town's streets, a sandy beach offers the setting for long walks or sunbathing, and the nearest airport is only 30 kilometers away. No wonder Stalis is such a popular vacation spot European tourists and families.
