No to bad.
Staff friendly. Place clean. Breakfast included was limited but decent. However there was no safe or fridge in the room. Bed was bizarrely very hard. Has no Aircon for cool air - summer heatwave.

Surprisingly good
We were surprised how good this hotel was. Very clean, helpful staff, good room, enough food for breakfast. Shame we had to pay for parking. A nice one night stay.

Excellent value, lovely staff
Great Hotel, perfect for a few days base with a dog. Breakfast is simple, but fresh and most welcome as included in the price. Free parking is an added bonus, as is the pub next door for good value food and drinks, especially with 20% off showing your room card.

Disappointing stay
We usually enjoy holiday inn express but this one was unbearably hot, no one could sleep and no alternative was offered other than an electric fan. The air con/ comfort cool system simply did not work and we were on the 3rd floor. The breakfast was not very edible, we understand that it is an express breakfast but there was no juice only very weak squash, the coffee was undrinkable as it was so bitter and the hot food tasted horrible.

Hi Ellie, I am sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations. We did have some issues with our air handling during some exceptionally hot days. Fortunately this has now been resolved. With regards to breakfast, the juice machine had broken down and was waiting to be replaced. The team attempted to offer the same juice in large jugs. I am sorry if this was not to your satisfaction. Put off for life!
Abysmal service throughout the whole stay and customer service was non existent! Had of known I’d have gone to a hotel for half the price and been guaranteed better care and service. Started with being being told room wasn’t ready when we arrived at the correct check in time… Havering to stand around and wait when 6 months pregnant isn’t very appropriate nor fair, no apology or explanation given. Then upon seeing the room which was smaller than a double bedroom at home (specifically booked a twin room due to pregnancy and was given a tiny room with two single beds pushed together) when I ask to change rooms was told no! No air con in a heat wave but a shoddy fan which I had to carry up stairs when they knew I was pregnant! Then spend the night with staff laughing and smoking below our room window (we were first floor) and then the following morning woken up again by staff smoking and chatting below room window, not only unprofessional but inconsiderate! Breakfast was terrible! Cheapest quality goods that was clearly been handled then returned by loads of kids that were staying at the hotel clearly seen by staff. Coffee was undrinkable … the whole experience was disgraceful and the fact we paid £220 for two nights is shocking !

Easy to get to and well placed for getting to the surrounding tourist spots. Hotel was clean and staff very friendly and helpful. One down point - our room was not serviced on 1 of the days we stayed.

Stayed here as we had a funeral very lovely and clean food mix for breakfast and even bakery bags to take some pastries away with some fruit Unfortunately it was fully booked when I asked to stay another night but no fault of hotel just means it’s a great place to stay

Good value for money
For the price, it is a very good hotel. (£60 approx for one night for the 4 of us in a family room with one king size and one sofa bed). The space was a bit cramped though. It’s very close to the main A road. Being away from the city, it is very quiet at night. Breakfast was standard continental with all the usual stuff present. Staff is courteous.

Recently refurbished hotel on a business park. All the team members that we met were warm and friendly, outside areas of the property needed a tidy up and the windows on the restaurant area definitely needed a clean. Our main gripe was the shower, water pressure was awful, so much so my wife couldn’t wash her hair, and we were in a ground floor room. As it was a quick overnight stop for us in transit, we didn’t make an issue of it, but would certainly check in advance if we were to contemplate stopping there again in the future. Self service breakfast was ok, the high points of our stay were the team members and cleanliness of the hotel.

Budget hotel for not so budget prices
I frequently stay at Holiday Hemel and it’s lovely, Swimming Pool, Gym etc it has great facilities, great food. I booked this hotel as it was local to a training course I was going on, I was expecting a similar experience however this hotel was beyond basic. I did read into after I arrived and it’s supposed to be a budget version of Holiday Inn however I only paid £4.62 less than my last visit to Hemel.
