“Second Best Hotel of St. John V.I.”
It was a nice surprise the Hotel and facilities. Try to rent a car to drive all around the island. It has magnific beaches.
“Going back next year”
The resort was very nice. the time spent was relaxing. I would highly suggest anyone staying and being pampered.
“Not impressed”
Although I had a great view of the Great Cruz Bay, the hotel was very spread out and lacked updating. For a Westin I expected more attention to detail in the upkeep of the room. I was told when I came in that a lightbulb was going to be replaced and it never was. The furniture and decor was outdated. I must warn people that this time of year (Sept-Oct), the natives evacuate the area. >80% of the restaurants are closed (the hotel provides a list of those restaurants with the majority crossed out for closure), including Cruz Bay Prime (the steak/seafood restaurant of the hotel). Although I should have looked into this beforehand, I don't feel the hotel should limit their activities and food services at any time of the year. Excursions were also significantly limited. To the hotel's credit, they did a great job of organizing the transport from STT and back. The hotel staff was pleasant. Their restaurant food was good but overpriced for the quality.
“Labor Day Getaway!”
This is a nice place for a getaway. Affordable and pretty nice contrary to most online reviews. Since Caneel Bay was closed for the season, we venture into the Westin. This is a nice hotel for your money, of course it's a family oriented so if you are looking for peace and quiet it may not be for you. However price/value is really good and made Caneel Bay looked way overpriced for the experience, besides the best beaches on St John are not inside Caneel Bay. The vibe of the island is very relaxed so staying at a hi end resort kind of defeats the purpose of the whole experience. The food/bar at the pool is impressive for hotel standards.
“Loved the Westin St. John!”
Don't know what people are complaining about at the Westin. The staff was very courteous, the beds were truely heavenly, the upkeep and security was top notch. And I can get very particular with places we stay in. There are no bed bugs: only no see ums that you can get and track in from the beach. Would love to return!!!
“Westin St. John”
We stayed in a Studio Villa. It was extremely convenient having a small kitchen & living area as well as a washer/dryer in our room. The cleaning staff was great. The only downfall the of the villa was its proximity to the main pool & restaurants within the resort. It was about a 10 min. walk, which is no big deal, but I could imagine it wouldn't be too convenient if you had small children with you. They also had golf cart shuttles to take you anywhere on the resort that ran continuously all day/night long. We ate breakfast and dinner once at the hotels main dining area on the waterfront. The service at dinner was poor at best, luckily the food was delicious and made up for the hostess and waiters short comings. The pool & hot tub were very clean and uncrowded, which was nice. I would definitely recommend renting a vehicle and visiting all the amazing beaches of St. John. Overall the Westin was a great value for the money, as well as very convenient to town. We would definitely stay here again.
“A cant miss - Great Westin Resort”
Check in was fast and painless - caught Irene but made the best out of it -Hillside villas are fantastic, modern & clean a home away from home great view on balcony. Rent a car on STT then catch car barge so much easier.Grounds are clean and beautiful-main pool fantastic & villa pool was like having our own private pool. The walk down to main pool easy( my 2 year old daughter did it) caught shuttle back to room (longest wait less then 3 minutes)All staff said hello to us, had maintenace issue they came up and fixed in 15 mins. Of course food & drink is expensive its a resort - it s known beach is not great so why act surprised. We will return
“St. John Hotel”
Excellent hotel for activites, location and overall amentities, you cannot beat it for a great family vacation or romantic getaway. The grounds are beautiful, but the buildings are getting a bit old and dated, and could use an update. The rooms have been updated furniture wise and the bathrooms, but still some outdated doors/walls, etc. Room was not clean, and we had issues with insects, which we did call and complain and it was never resolved. So there are some issues with cleanliness and maintenance at the hotel, that needs to be addressed by Westin, but beyond that service was great and so much to do, we had a great vacation there!
“Despite utility problems, would return”
PROs: Great location. Beautiful hotel grounds. Nearby Cruz Bay is quaint village a 5 minute (sometimes scary!) cab ride away. Definitely worth it to rent a Jeep and visit nearby Cinnamon Bay, Trunk Bay, and Maho Bay. But be prepared to drive on left side of roads that are at times very steep with blind curves. Great pool. CONS: Internet in our Hillside Villa never worked throughout our 10 day stay. Hotel staff were unable to repair it. (And repairman mistakenly took my laptop charger. Hotel staff were unhelpful in returning the charger or compensating me for it.) Television did not work for 3 days of our stay. Plumbing was periodically shut down. If you stay on the Hillside part of the resort you will need to use their shuttle service (a bit inconvenient) to get to main (beach side) part of resort. Food is quite a bit overpriced, but unless you buy groceries and bring them to your room, you're a bit stuck. OVERALL: Despite the problems, would definitely return to this resort.
“Overall good experience, but minor things need to be addressed”
This is our second trip to St. John this year and both times we have stayed at the Westin. First the positive-- the property is beautifully landscaped, the staff is very courteous and helpful, Mango Deli provides many inexpensive options for breakfast and lunch, free shuttle to the public beaches, dinner at the Beach Cafe is excellent (highly recommend the yellow fin and seafood jambalaya), and the pool is amazing! Negative--rooms need updating, signs on property are broken (they were not touch for the five days we were there), the fitness room has 5 eliptical machines and two were broken the entire time, and the beach doesn't compare to the public beaches. Overall, we like the Westin, but these are some minor things that prevent this from being an excellent hotel.
