“Room #531”
Brief Description: Family of 3 (wife, husband and toddler) were booked to stay in Room #531 for 7 nights. The below CONS shortened our stay. Pros: 1) nice ocean view from balcony 2) nice beach (a bit rocky) 3) decent housekeeping Cons: 1) Customer Service Disorganized: First time I callled about a crib, they told me there was a fee. Second time I called, they told me there is no fee and the crib will be in the room. There was NO crib. Luckily, we brought our pack n play. 2) Slow Wireless Internet Access: because building #5 is a bit farther uphill the reception is slow. I had to call in for the internet access code, it wasn't volunteered at point of check in. When called, customer service gave me a response of "well if you can't get access, we can't do anything about it, that's just the way it is". 3) No glass covering windows in bedroom, they were similar to horizontal think shades. This made it very uncomfortable to sleep as we heard people walking by, rain falling and constant frogs. 4) BED BUGS. My husband and I had bites all over our body - who were sleeping on the bed. My toddler who slept in the pack n play did not have bites. Con #4 ended our stay @ Secret Harbor.
“Secret Harbour Resort”
What a great venue, would have liked to have spent our week there. Great price, great view and a great beach!
“Disaster”
Worst eperience
“Rest, Relaxation and excellent service in St. Thomas a Secret”
The Sunset Grill Restaurant which is on the location of the Secret Harbour is excellent. The dinners were presented and tasted as if they were on a cover of Gourmet Magazine. The scallops were the best I have tasted, the filet just melted in your mouth. Oh and the deserts heavenly. I so enjoyed each dinner that I made a reccommendation to everyone I knew that was going to St. Thomas via Red Hook Ferry to make a stop there.
“Not "Secret" any more”
We've stayed at this hotel for a few times in the past, last stay was two years ago. Unfortunately, it seems that things have been going down hill since then. We booked an oceanview room, and upon our arrival we were upgraded to a beachfront room. The room was in such a bad shape, we were surprised (even after reading reviews which mentioned all sorts of problems). The main problem was yellow water, which looked really bad. We had to buy water to brush teeth, wash face etc. The water quality remained bad throughout our stay (we complained, hotel person looked at it and said that everything is fine). Then we had a leaking conditioner (was fixed though), terrible bed (I had major back problems after sleeping on it for a couple of days), totally destroyed oven, very limited selection of items to cook with (3) in pretty bad shape (that’s it), totally destroyed screen door (couldnt use). However, the location of the room was so amazing, we didn’t ask to be moved. Now the beach. The beach is not huge, so it gets crowded pretty easily. There were crowds of people arriving every day (from other locations, cruise ships, etc). A lot of people were smoking (cigarette buds everywhere) and drinking A LOT. I am not sure we want to bring our kids here, which is sad since its a wonderful beach for kids of all ages. It looks like the overall quality of everything has gone down, and we are sure if we will be staying here in the future.
“Great way to enjoy St. Thomas & St. John without the tourist crowds!”
While this resort IS a fair jaunt from the airport, we found driving the island's northern route (38) to and from the resort (once east of Charlotte Amalie) was breath-taking and had much less traffic. Nearby Red Hook is convenient for groceries, ferry & some entertainment. Condo had fridge, mic, stove, etc. to make simple meals now & then and save $ for sightseeing, etc. Very nice beach & brand new restaurant/bar at the resort! Yummy drinks. Had a very comfortable 2nd floor condo with just a few steps down to the beach - convenient & had great views + privacy. We swam and snorkeled daily : ) The resort staff were all very friendly, and knowledgeable about the area, giving us useful tips, esp. dive shop staff. Was easy to book a BVI snorkeling excusion thru them, also fabulous. What a wonderful way to celebrate our 30th!
“The staff NEVER smile, Not a fan of ANT TRAILS from bathroom to closet!!!”
DO NOT STAY HERE! The front desk there are very unaccommodating. They never once smiled and every time someone asked for something like towels, they would each look at each other waiting for the other to get up and do it. Laziest and rudest front desk/hotel staff I've ever encountered (and I've been to quite a few hotels). The rooms themselves are obviously old furniture, but well kept. The room seemed clean, but then I looked up and saw a HUGE ant trail running from the shower of the bathroom out into hallway closet. GROSS! We asked to have our room changed and they refused, although we knew for a fact they had vacancies. Instead, they sent someone up to take care of it. When we came back, the room wreaked of RAID and most of the ants were gone except for a few lingering dead ants that weren't wiped off well and which remained there for our entire stay. We never continued to complain as we were not getting anywhere with the staff and did not want to spend our vacation upset from arguing with the hotel.
“No thanks; will not return.”
We journeyed all day from New England to the balmy St. Thomas island, and upon checking in at 9 p.m., we were informed that the bar closed at 9 p.m. We had really been looking forward to a night-cap. We walked to the bar anyway and the bartender was serving his friends, but would not serve us. We returned to the front desk to ask where there was some water. Nothing. no hospitality!! Secret Harbor is in decay, and igaunas pooped into the ocean from palm trees just above the shore. We couldn't check out fast enough the next morning.
