“WONDERFUL VACATION”
I can not say enough about this place. It was convienent to everything. All of our excursions left out of the Marina, which we walked to. The room was great, decorated beautifully, very carribbean looking. We had an ocean view room which was right on the beach. We just walked out on the balcony and could see St. John, sunrises and the beautiful water. You could snorkel at the hotel. We actually paid for a snorkel excursion, and on the last day we were there we snorkled at the hotel, and it was 10 times better than the snorkel areas we paid for, and the hotel rented the snorkel equipment and it was free to snorkel, wish we had of snorkeled there everyday. There was more coral, and fish than the places we sailed to. The only draw back was that they service the rooms every other day, however if you needed extra towels, you just walked to the office and picked up more. We would go back and stay in the same place again and again. It was fabulous. We highly recommend it. I even told my husband when we were there, that I wasn't sure where the people stayed that gave it bad reviews, but it wasn't where we stayed. It was not a 5 star hotel, but it was inexpensive and very very nice. Right up our alley....check it out for yourself...Love, Love, Love it...can't wait to go back
“Red hook”
Staff helpful, food choices -slim Beach nice, rooms- in need of update Taxi fees add up quick, I might go back.
“Disappointed”
From the outside, this place is nice but once you step inside you have entered a time warp and gone back at least 20 years. There was no wireless, only very basic cable, and dingy appointments. Not good value at all.
“I would never accept money to stay in this hotel again. It was absolutely horrible.”
The exterior is very run down. The room itself was full of stains: on the bathroom floor tiles, on the bathroom wall tiles, on the bathroom counter, on the toilet seat, on the sheets, on the kitchen counters, on the refrigerator, on the bedroom/sitting area floor. The refrigerator was rusted , the curtains raveled. The room SMELLED musty but was covered up by room spray. My husband and I wouldn't walk on the floors. Wouldn't sleep on our bellies because our face would be in the pillow and doubted it cleanliness. We left the island a day early because this hotel was really that bad. We are both very well traveled, and have been to some far, shady places. This was by far the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Please don't go here.
“Sapphire Beach Wonderful Beach”
Well we were supposed to be booked into two rooms at the Crystal Cove and arrived to only have one room booked and they put us in at the Sapphire Resort in two rooms which is part of the property. The beach is great, the staff at the front desk checking in was not very responsive to having messed up the reservation that clearly had 2 rooms on their end on the confirmation. The resort itself was nice the water was warm and lots of stuff to see fish, turtles, rays, and coral. There is a small place to get breakfast and lunch right there and it is not far from places to go to eat. We rented a Jeep as we do when we go to St. Thomas. The beds were comfy and the room was good except the floors were dirty but we just kept our shoes on when we were in the room (flip flops). Overall I would go back again just wish I could have stayed where I reserved not sure if this will help somebody looking for a review of the Crystal Cove but it will give you a review of the resort part. I am sure the rooms there are similar.
“Mixed review”
The room was not ready even though we arrived well after check in time. When we finally did check in (an hour later) we had great service and help getting to and getting situated in our room. The appliances worked well for the first two days, but the coffee maker quit after then. The outlets in the bathrooms were scary looking so I wouldn't recommend plugging anything into them. Our power went out for an hour one day. The layout of the room was great, and so was the layout of the complex. It was about 2 minutes off the beach, which is nice if you are a light sleeper. The beach was nice and you could snorkel right there. There were a lot of people selling stuff, though. They seemed to forget they just asked you if you wanted something. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.
“This place should be torn down.”
See comment above.
“Comfortable, laid back”
Crystal Cove was very accommodating and comfortable. We felt "at home" and truly enjoyed our vacation and accommodations. The beach was beautiful and people were very friendly. It would be a place that I would return and bring my extended family to.
“nice quiet convenient beach a short walk from your room”
Very suitable for a relaxing vacation, except for the driving. If you get a suite , accommodation is large. Studio Is suite without the bedroom and only one of the 2 bathrooms. A car is vital to eat/grocery shop in Red Hook,a few minutes away. Don't go here unless you are capable of driving your own roller coaster or prepared to spend a great amount on taxis
“Studio très grand dans condo très bien placé”
En guise de studio, c'est un appartement d'environ 70 m² que nous avons découvert. Tout équipé, climatisé, dans un magnifique parc tout proche de la plage. Endroit très calme, idéal pour se reposer. Une voiture est toutefois nécessaire pour se déplacer
