Comfortable for short stay
Not much to look at from the outside or from the lobby, but inside the room was comfortable and updated. Every staff member seemed nice and friendly. Would stay here again if ever in town.

Breakfast advertised on Expedia . No breakfast.. coffee only from 6-9am. Takes act of Congress to get towels. Owners milking property til they sell it!! My dogs liked all the nasty smells though!!

Terrible experience. Will never return.
I was highly dissatisfied with the experience. Our room was not cleaned well. There was a mold/ mildew problem that caused us to switch rooms. The second room was a lesser problem but still was a problem with mold/ mildew and cleanliness. Upset because I could not choose another hotel being the family reunion I was attending was not gonna be close enough.

Good for a few days stay.
Hall carpet should get cleaned. There was no coffee or breakfast in the morning. Room had a funky smell that i fixed with air freasheners. AC ran good. Floors and bed were clean. Shower needs to get fixed.

I was not expecting a lot since this was the only motel/hotel in St.Stephen but it was actually not bad at all. The place is older but staff was very friendly and my room was clean with fresh clean towels daily (upon request).

I have stayed at many hotels, this by far is the worst. The place had an odor, it was not clean and infested with Roaches. We went to the font desk and the Manager acted as it was no big deal. He knocked the roach in the hall and got an attitude when I requested a refund. He came to check the room to see if anything was missing. We were there about 10 minutes. The place needs to be torn down and rebuilt and have new management, in addition to health department inspections on a weekly basis.

Rural Lake Hotel
Office staff was great! Room could have used a deep cleaning, but overall was clean enough to stay without complaining. Hotel is dated, but the area is very rural and I doubt they do enough business to get profits for renovations. Area felt safe. We would stay here again if we were visiting the area.

The hotel was very outdated and the rooms were dirty. The walls were dirty, the bathroom walls were stained and overall the hotel was just not up to standard. It was the only hotel in the vicinity of why my family and I were in the area, so that is the only reason we stayed there. It served its purpose, but I would not recommend this hotel and not stay here again. On a positive note, the beds were comfortable, and the staff were friendly and very helpful and had great customer service.

I stayed here for a night because my air conditioning at home went out. This was the most reasonably priced place in the area to stay. I booked this place, not expecting much. For an Econolodge, not bad at all. I was pleasantly surprised. Staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The room and the common areas were clean. I had one minor issue, the staff addressed it immediately. If someone is staying in the area while visiting Lake Moultrie (and you are just looking for a clean, comfortable place to stay) I would recommend this place. A lot cheaper than the Monks Corner or Summerville options.

No other choice
Since they have no competition the quality leaves a lot to be desired. We’ve been staying here for several years and thus far the pool has been open ONCE! Since March we have stayed there 4 times and the ice machine and drink machine on the first floor have been out of order every time. No coffee or continental breakfast because of COVID-19 but charging the same amount. Repairs could have been done by any kid - a cracked in the tub was repaired with a brown sealant that was never even smoothed out. Showers are difficult since you had to fight the shower curtain the entire time. A curved shower rod would be a great improvement.
