“Not a bad mini-hotel in the center of SPb”

Typical mini-hotel, located on 2nd floor of the building. Good location for travellers and business visits.

“Not central, but close enough...”

The hotel is on the main street (Nevsky Prospekt), but a good 30 minutes walk from the main attractions. However, this walk is pleasant and safe, and there are nice buildings and other "mini-attractions". When you get tired of walking there are buses, though traffic on this street is hell... Metro is nearby, but still 5 mins walk, and saves about 20 mins of walk. Also the hotel is in an urban area, so no problem finding restaurants nearby. The Armenian place next door is recommended for its excellent food (and low prices) - less for its service. Downside is that some rooms face the street, which as said is very main, so it's a bit noisy - and also the curtains don't really protect from outside light. Breakfast is okay - not more than that. The staff speaks English very well (for St. Petersburg...) and was helpful.

“Typical mini hotel”

Nice enough bearing in mind rate and location. Typical economy mini hotel - they have to store vacuun cleaner in main hall as their main attraction because there is not plenty of space.

“Pleasure to stay in hotel”

I can't recall such bad things or service. However, in the kitchen service was a bit delayed (most tables were busy by dirty dishes when we came to eat). And room was smoked a little bit, although we kept window opened and asked for non-smoke apartments. Definitely I would recommend this hotel and probably will stay there on the next time.

“Excellent service and location”

Great location (2-minute walk from Moscow Train Station), very courteous staff, tasty breakfast, free wi-fi. Rooms aren't huge like those in the US hotels, but large enough compared to typical European hotels. Strongly recommended

“Very comfortable and convinient”

Recently renovated you can still smell the new carpet. Very well located. Very clean. Helpful staff. The only hard thing is that is on the second floor and there is no lift so if you are carrying a huge bagagge (20Kg) you will drop some sweat for sure. Also as is located on a busy avenue it can not be so quiet at nights.

“Nevski Express Hotel in St. Petersburg, een sober, maar prima hotel!”

Het Nevski Express Hotel in St. Petersburg is een prima hotel om te logeren als je niet te hoge eisen stelt aan je accommodatie. Zoals dus in ons geval. Op stedentrip zijn een goed bed en een lekkere douche de belangrijkste ingredienten die wij vragen. Plus natuurlijk dat het schoon moet zijn en aan alle drie hiervoor genoemde vereisten wordt voldaan. Het ontbijt stelt niet veel voor; geroosterde boterhammetjes en wat muesli en lauwe potjes yoghurt en voor de liefhebber pasta, worstjes en geraspte kaas. Verder prima koffie en thee, dus een goed begin van de dag. De meisjes die de receptie bemannen spreken goed Engels. Er is een pc met gratis internettoegang aanwezig voor de gasten. Het hotel ligt op 2 minuten lopen van metrostation Vosstanya. Kortom een prima verblijf gehad!

Getting there

Vanaf het vliegveld is het heel simpel (en heeeeeel goedkoop) om met de bus naar het centrum van St. Petersburg te komen. Neem voor de aankomsthal bus 13 tot aan metrostation Moscovskaya en stap daar over op de metro om verder de stad in te reizen. In de bus is het de gewoonte om bij het uitstappen aan de chauffeur te betalen. Zorg er dus bij het geld wisselen voor dat je ook wat kleine coupures hebt. Wij hebben pp 19 roebel betaald voor een busritje naar het metrostation. In het metrostation kun je metromuntjes aan de kassa kopen. Het is aan te raden er gelijk meerdere te kopen.

Getting around

Vervoer in St. Petersburg is heel goed te doen met de metro. Veel ligt vlakbij een metrostation en ook veel is op loopafstand van elkaar. Koop een voorraadje metromuntjes als je aankomt. Ook met het openbaar vervoer naar bijvoorbeeld het Peterhof (ongeveer 30 km buiten de stad) is leuk om te doen. Neem de metro naar station Baltiskaya en stap daar op een minibusje (lijn 404). Voor 50 roebel pp, stap je voor de deur van het Peterhof uit! Terug heb je meerdere opties, let er gewoon op dat de bus die je neemt een stop maakt bij een metrostation!

Dining

Wij hebben heerlijk gegeten bij restaurant Ket in de Karavannaya str. 24, een zijstraat van de Nevskii Prospekt. Het is een Georgisch/Russisch restaurant in een soort kelder waar de bediening super aardig is en ze zijn er heel service gericht. Ook is het eten er zeer betaalbaar.

Events and shows

In het prachtige Hermitagetheater hebben wij een voorstelling van het Zwanenmeer bezocht. De tickets hebben wij bij een Ticket office aan de Nevskii Prospekt gekocht, want het theater heeft geen eigen kassa. Let alleen heeeeel goed op de aanvangstijden.... de meeste voorstellingen in de theaters beginnen om 19:30, maar op ons kaartje stond 20:00 uur! Wij hebben daardoor dus de eerste 10 minuten van de voorstelling gemist en wij waren zeker niet de enigen!
