“Nice Hotel and Staff”
Room was a bit small and bed uncomfortable . Thats all I can say thats wrong all else was perfect , location was good and room clean and nice . No english TV but I didnt watch it much anyway and the front desk very friendly and helpful especially Elena , very friendly helpful and pretty :) The price was really good and it was easy to get to Nevsky Prospect . I would stay again here for sure .
“One of the best tourist hotels in St Petersburg”
I guess this hotel is one of the best options for a tourist. It is only 15 minutes (on foot) away from the main train and the subway stations. Moreover, room rates are reasonable and the desk personnel communicate in English without trouble.
“Not as good as in the reviews, disappointed”
They forgot to clean the room and change towels/bedsheets when I checked in at around 7pm. But the staff was helpful in cleaning it immediately and finish within 15 min. The room has some strong smell of body odour - not sure where it came from. The bathroom is clean and the bedsheets seem to be clean too. So I suspect it came from the carpet. Have not visited other Russian hotels, so cannot compare whether this is normal or not. It's in the summer and it's hot, so any smell will be more apparent than in the winter. Staff at the front desk speak English and are quite helpful. Breakfast has good selection. After all, it was a rather disappointing stay after receiving good reviews on the internet.
“excellent value”
The staff speaks excellent English and is helpful and friendly. They showed me how to navigate the public transportation system and helped me plan trips to nearby sites. The hotel's interior is modern and well maintained, the breakfast excellent, my dinner options (stroganof, vodka, & Spanish olives) tasty. My room was fairly small by U.S. standards but perfect for my needs. Wi fi in the room was strong (and I was on the top floor). The hotel is an excellent value, within a 20-30 minute walk from central Saint Petersburg and on a quick bus line.
“Another Stay at the Vera”
The Hotel Vera location is great and the staff are excellent. My only issue with the hotel is they need to get new TVs. Their televisions and reception are poor. Periodically I like to watch TV and the TVs here are ancient, small and reception is not good. The TV in my room had a sound problem. Other than this I like this hotel very much.
“nice hotel”
hotel vera is nice & clean. nothing fancy. staff is very helpful. breakfast is sufficient. one can take tram #11 to all major sights within half an hour. walking along nevsky to sights is enjoyable too. the cost of tram is about 80 cents. the #11 can reach the train station for moscow in 5 minutes. it costs 500 rubles by taxi to train station. there are a number of grocery stores nearby. they offer authentic local deli. there are also a couple of dept stores with markets in the basements. good for people watching. final thoughts, bring your booze there. they sell them at high prices. and don't take taxis.
“Perfect for Sightseeing”
Lack of public lobby & bar was no problem as our Classic room was spacious and we spent most of our time out and about. Service was superb. Good English spoken and friendly staff. Very helpful including booking cabs and sending on items left behind, charging only postage. Small Restaurant Vera offered excellent food & service including local dishes - well worth trying. Well located on two trolleybus routes that run the full length of Nevsky Prospect and 15 minutes walk from the railway station/metro. Excellent value for our purpose.
“A decent place to stay at a reasonable price”
The room was somewhat smaller than expected but very clean with good AC and spotless bathroom. Comfortable bed. The hotel itself is a big further away from the center but with good access to buses for Nevskiy Prospect and Moskovskaya train station which was great for the quick connection to Moscow. The price was very reasonable for the quality.
“OK for the price”
The hotel was OK for the price, most importantly they provided the needed invitation letter to get the visa. The beds were too high and narrow. The room was small but the bathroom was new and everything worked. The walks were longer than advertised but there are trolleys and buses that stop in the corner. For 20 rubles you can go along Nevsky Prospect to the Hermitage and get to know the city. The breakfast buffet was good and plentiful. There was always an English speaker on staff and they provided good maps of the city. I did not eat in the cafe on the first floor. The area was under construction and not nice. There are plenty of restaurants nearby. Many souvenir shops do not accept credit cards but I found one on Nevsky by the Moscow RR station that has everything and takes cards. The Hermitage does not accept cards either and there are lines to get in. You may want to buy tickets ahead of time. The city has lots too explore, enjoy!
“inexpensive hotel in st. petersburg, russia”
the hotel vera is a nice, friendly place in a gentrifying neighborhood. the staff is extremely helpful and fairly conversant in english. the hotel is a bus ride from the major attractions. the ride should be short, but local traffic can be horrendous
