“Good clean hotel. Friendly polite staff.”

This hotel is well situated. Yes you can walk to the Hermitage...it takes about 20 minutes. Or you can catch the NO 10 and and I think 14 bus from Nevsky Prospekt. Staff were good,friendly and polite. The breakfast was excellent. I didn't try the restaurant as it looked a little expensive for me but there were good cheap restaurants 2 minutes up the street, By all means stay here. I much prefered St.Petersburg and this hotel to my Moscow experience.

“Ok in St. Petersburg”

For a five star price the hotel was satisfactory. The staff were better trained than in other Russian hotels....generally friendly and helpful. They lack the intuitive 'can do' attitude that one expects from a hotel that sees itself as 5 star. We were not disappointed...just not overly impressed with any elements of our stay.

Area recommendations

The Hermitage is the most impressive site in the city, so staying nearby would be best. The Emerald was a 30 minute walk. if there again i would probably look for a hotel closer to the major tourist sites. However, if one is taking the train to Moscow (or from) the hotel is quite close.

“Nice rooms, bad location, poor service”

This is a 3-star hotel masquerading as a 5-star hotel because of its new rooms. The receptionists were not knowledgeable of the hotel's services. Room service was rude and never brought us our order. I've lived in Russia for 12 years and am accustomed to poor service, but this was unexpected from a 5-star Expedia Pick.

Area recommendations

During the summer it's important to stay on the south-west side of the Neva river so that when the bridges are raised during White Nights, you can still walk back to your hotel or catch a cab. The subway closes at 12am. If your hotel is to the north or east of the river, and you are touring the historic center in the evening, you can get caught with no transportation options except for a very expensive taxi ride around all of the raised bridges.

Must see

Peterhof is a must-see location because it is accessible by "rocket" boat during the summer from the dock in front of the Hermitage. During high season expect long lines at ticket booths for palaces and museums. It's best to book advanced group tours of the Hermitage, Tsar Village or Peterhof during high-season (May-July).

“Gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis”

leider kann man die Fenster nicht öffnen. Dafür ist das Hotel ruhig auch dank sehr dicker Teppiche auf dem Flur. Der Service zum Frühstück lässt trotz ausreichendem Personal zu wünschen übrig. Sehr kompetente Concierge! Alles in Allem waren wir auch mit dem Preis-Leistungsverhältnis sehr zufrieden.

“Freundliches Personal, gute Lage”

Das Hotel ist nur 5 Gehminuten vom Nevski Prospect, der Hauptschlagader von St. Petersburg und der Metro-Station entfernt. Gute Anbindung zu vielen Sehenswürdigkeiten. Das Personal ist freundlich und hilfsbereit.
