“Character”
This hotel is historic and it holds a lot of character. One may look at the facilities as dated, but they aren't bad. They are simply "classic". It has a very distinct feel. We think that most of the rooms are unique in one way or another. Not like a chain hotel where each room is a cloned from the one next to it. The hallways are nicely decorated as well, with a few murals and funky old water basins. There was a little wear to the some of the facilities, but it didn't bother us much. If you are looking for something "nice", maybe the cloners are for you. If you are looking for a little bit of fun an adventure, why not stay at a hotel that has a little charm? That's what Ponce de Leon has to offer. The restaurant downstairs looks fun too, but we didn't get to try it out.
“Nice place, parking stinks”
Nice hotel right in the middle of St.Pete attractions. Small rooms, small TV but don't stay here if you plan on sitting in your hotel all day, go out and experience the beautiful area. Be warned there is no free parking for the hotel and the meter maids are very aggressive in handing out their $25 parking tickets. There is a parking garage next to the hotel that charges $6 a day.
“adequate hotel”
does the job fine but no frills. Bath could use a little updating....
“Sleepless night”
I advise anyone trying to get a full nights rest (not after downing a few beers on central avenue) to not stay here. Hotel is located on one of the busiest streets and has a late night club right below it. Construction of building must be original because you can hear everything around you! Had to make a noise complaint buy problem was never solved. Only plus was the bed and sheets. Must I add mold all on the bathroom floors?
“Definately going back!!”
OMG!! Beautiful city!! There's plenty to do within walking distance. You could go to the St. Pete Pier, which has shops & places to eat. And, it has a nice aquarium on the 2nd floor. Also near the Yacht Club, Dali Museum, & plenty of nightlife. Only PROBLEM is PARKING!! The Hotel offers NO parking or valet. You have to bring plenty of quarters for daytime, then at night after certain hours the meters are free. Also, plenty of parking garages around for a fee, this is your best bet on a Friday or Saturday night. There is a 5star resterant in the lobby called Ceviches. (Tapas) Rooms are small & modern. However not all rooms have a city view or water view, ours was facing an alley & the side of another building. Bed's are comfy. TVs are small. Limited cable channels. Their "mini bar" is a college dorm fridge w/bottled water ONLY in them. The bottled waters are $2!! No pool!...A few minor changes & this hotel would be PERFECT!!
“Very Impressed, Will be back”
I will recommend this hotel to everybody, Only thing missing is a Pool
“Good value for the price”
A quirky hotel - loved the historic features of the room and the hotel itself. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room had a slightly musty smell - the AC unit looked as if it needed cleaning, and the bathroom had minimal cleaning daily, but overall a good place to stay for the price. I would stay there again.
“Ponce Stay”
I stayed for one weekend at the Ponce De Leon, in June, and the location was great. The hotel was well kept, but it was extremely old and I could tell especially when I entered my room. The smell of old, molded, wet walls filled the air. Everytime I went back to the hotel I was disappointed because of the foul smell. I was scared it was going to get into my clothes, but I managed to stay for the whole weekend. Will I be back? I'll look else where, first.
“Nice Little Place”
If you are expecting the Ritz or Mariott you will be disappointed. This little hotel is a great place to hang your hat for a visit. While not glamorus, the rooms are more than enough for you while you tour downtown and all of it's ammenities. The only drawback was the parking, their lot is three blocks away for free. I parked my car for $4 a day accross the street and was happy with it. My wife and I are already planning a return trip.
“Great location like no gas needed”
It was right in the middle of downtown St. Pete in a great area. The service was very helpful if we needed it. The rooms were very comfortable and we liked the modern feel of it. It was very affordable too. We would highly recommend this hotel to people.
