Bongo's Beach Bar & Grille - Walk-up and casual dining. American fare, including sandwiches, burgers, pizza and 200 frozen tropical drinks. Daily lunch and dinner. Located directly on the Gulf of Mexico beach. Poolside terrace overlooking the water. Live entertainment daily.
Spinners Restaurant - Bistro fare, including seafood, steaks, pasta, “surf & turf,” and Asian-style Pu Pu platters. Daily lunch and dinner. 12th-floor restaurant and bar accessed by glass elevator. Casual dining. Room rotates once every 1.5 hours offering excellent views of the Gulf of Mexico and Boca Ciega Bay.
The Palm Room - Open early daily for breakfast. All-you-can-eat breakfast buffet or full breakfast menu (including low-carb options.) Indoor tables have views of the pool and beach. Patio dining available.

“Very enjoyable stay”
We really enjoyed our two night stay in this hotel.We were upgraded to a really really nice room on the 9th floor with a superb view. Staff were very helpful and pleasant.

This hotel looks like something from Thunderbirds, the building being circular with a revolving roof top restaurant some 12 storeys in height with un-paralleled views of the Gulf of Mexico. The literature stated that the hotel, formerly operated by the Holiday Inn chain, had recently been renovated. We found the decor drab and outdated, the bathrooms too small and very basic and our evening meal unappetising. The rooms are of good proportion and the linen was clean. The rooms themselves could have been cleaner. The previous 2 nights we stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Sarasota, 40 miles south across the Sunshine Skyway bridge which is fantastic. The Ritz Carlton is 5 stars and our room rates there were only a lttle more with outstanding service and appointment. Sadly, we didn't find the Grand Plaza to be good value for money, although this did not spoil our holday.
“It was good, not great... comfortable, not luxury”
Unfortunately for the Grand Plaza, we had just come from an all inclusive resort in Cancun which was absolutely amazing and as such, on arrival at the Grand Plaza it was difficult not to make comparisons to the last place. We landed with a big bump and was a bit disappointed. This was part of our trip, our honeymoon and despite the fact that the Grand Plaza is a very popular place to hold weddings, they offer nothing for honeymooners, therefore this did not feel special to us at all. The location was good, especially for us visiting Tropicana Field for games. The hotel is right on the beach and the pool is of good size with plenty of loungers around. If you are looking for a hotel with good gym facillities, this is not the place for you. There was very little equipment, and what was there was either dangerous, out of order or very difficult to work with. The room was a very odd shape, which meant the furniture, a bit shabby in places, didn't really fit causing us to squeeze past things to get to the bed and the bathroom was tiny, only for one. Staff were friendly, Spinners revolving restaurant at the top was great, definitely worth eating and/or drinking there. We enjoyed staying here, unfortunately, bearing in mind it was our honeymoon, it didn't fit the bill for us. It was good, not great... comfortable, not luxury.
