I booked a single room here and was pleasantly surprised when I arrived to learn that I had been upgraded to a twin as it was larger than the small single I had booked. However I then discovered that I didn't have an en suite bathroom and even worse, the bathroom was on the floor below! I had read reviews prior to staying and one review did point this fact out but a comment from the guest house said that they'd sorted it all out now. I'm not sure now because my room didn't have an en suite!
I felt uncomfortable using the bathroom downstairs and would much rather have had the tiny room with it's own bathroom, especially as I was a woman staying on my own!
The room I had was large but cluttered with large and unnecessary furniture. The room was dwarfed by a massive double wardrobe, a huge tall chest of drawers, a sofa and a random chair. It would have been nicer to have a small wardrobe (no one stays for long really, do they?) and the large tall chest of drawers removed. There was a dressing table with mirror which was more than adequate.
The room was lovely and warm but smelt dusty.
The guest house is advertised as having free wifi but on this occasion the landlord was out for the evening and wouldn't be back until very late and the landlady didn't have a clue what the password was. Not much help to me there then!
Breakfast was lovely and the staff very attentive.
Would stay again but only with a guaranteed ensuite!
