“Didn't expect much...and we got what we expected.”

We were in transit to St Barts and had to layover on St Maarten so we wanted to stay near airport on Dutch side. FBR fit the bill. Our check in was okay but we were met by dirty dishes in our room's kitchenette sink. The room was Spartan but fine but my wife was not happy with those pesky dirty dishes. We got out early the next morning. Def won't go back.

“great condo”

Very nice condo. Great location and a lot to do.

Area recommendations
St. Marten is all good. We use the bus system. Mullet Beach is exellent. Great inexpensive food on the beach. Simpson Bay has the least expensive restaurants.

“Just ok”

It really depends on which room you get in this hotel... the first room we were assigned to faced the parking lot and the entire floor was under construction. We immediately requested to be moved. The hotel staff obliged and we relocated to a ground floor unit facing the pool/ ocean. This room location was much better. The hotel is just ok. Nothing special. The staff aren't very friendly and seem overall fairly disinterested in the guests experience. The beach is beautiful...nothing bad to say about that. The pool is also quite nice. The main downside is the construction and renovations that are happening through out the entire resort. Free wifi was a plus!

“Not Impressed”

Not worth the stay. Our room was in another building far from ocean. To get to beach, have to across busy street and parking lot. View from room is bad because it faces busy roads. Hotel service desk was slow at service and you have to be patient. No wireless internet at room and you have to pay a few dollars in order to access Internet just for 15 minutes from PC around servcie desk. If you have special request while booking and you will never receive response from hotel. No 1-800 number and you have to pay to call their local number in order to reach them from US. Hotel beach is not perfect because there are so many rocks underneath.

“Very good hotel for good price”

Hotel location was great.. Draw back if older people is walking up hill to anywhere.Only issue was fridge did not work. It took the third day.. when I requested a manager, than it was fixed fast.

Area recommendations
Mullet Bay was not so private like last time, lots of people. Went to Saba ..was nice to be right near where you can catch a boat. Take the bus places .. easy and cheap.

“Good value for the $$”

The Flamingo Beach Hotel was definitely a good value. We stayed in a one bedroom suite--which appeared to be either newly renovated or newly built. The kitchen was fully outfitted with utensils, dishware, pots, as well as small appliances such as a blender and coffee maker. The decor was very nice; the bed and pullout couch were new and very comfortable. The bathroom was a little disappointing, being that it only had a shower stall; but having the double sink vanity was good. Our suite was not part of the main resort area, but the short walk to the lobby area wasn't too bad. They have free wireless internet, but it can only be accessed in the lobby, and not from the rooms. The one glaring negative was the fact that housekeeping was basically non-existent. They did not respond to simple requests (extra blanket and box of kleenex), despite me telling the front desk THREE times. They only did one cleaning during our 4 day stay--and it was pretty much only to change our linens and towel. Other than the terrible lack of housekeeping services, I thought the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The location was nice in the sense that it was off the main road and beachside. Traffic in the area can be heavy at times, being that there was major construction on the main road leading to Phillipsburg and Marigot (Welfare Rd) Overall, i enjoyed my stay; and would come back again. The housekeeping issues needs to improve.

“Very nice”

We really enjoyed our stay at the Flamingo. The kitchen in our room is the best by far of any we've ever had at a hotel. There is plenty of covered parking and there are nice bars and cafes within walking distance.

“great hotel & beach”

Just came back from a 10 day trip to SXM. We stayed at the Flamingo 4 days at the end of our trip to extend our stay. This was a great hotel & location. Snorkeling right off their beach was very good. We saw several boats dropping people here to snorkel. Room with full kitchen was great to have. Well appointed amenities in kitchen. We would definitely go back here.

Area recommendations
We would recommend Simpson Bay area. There are several great beaches within a few minutes driving time.
Getting around
Unfortunately, the other side of the island, Marigot, Phillipsburg, & Orient Bay were difficult to get to (2 hrs rd trip) due to detours. We made the trip a few times but didn't want to spend our time in the car.

“Mixed bag”

Pluses and minuses here. First of all let me state that the room was big, with a nice sized patio and a living room area with sleeper sofa that can be closed off to make a separate room, It was clean, well stocked and probably a very good place to spend a week, as it has a full kitchen. The pool and surrounding area is very attractive and clean. Unfortunately, the pool bar is not associated with the hotel. So no charging drinks to the room. Minor inconvenience. The beach areas were both very attractive and also clean. Now for the negatives. If you just want to stay for a day or 2, check in time is 4:30, and they don't usually let you into the room early. They do, however, watch your bags for you. They ran out of beach towels fairly early and made no effort to get more, vaguely suggesting that maybe the front desk might have some. Check out time is at 10 AM, so your time is short. And traffic in St Martin, especially on the Dutch side, is just horrible. They are performing major renovations that turned a short drive from Phillipsburg to the airport into an hour and 3/4 ordeal.
