    “Just like I imagined!”

My now husband and I decided to stay at The Ladera for the 2nd half of our St. Lucia honeymoon. We were absolutely amazed by the beautiful view of the Pitons in our hilltop dream suite. The pool was big and we loved having complete privacy. The only downside of the resort is the location, in that it is far from many restaurants. If you do not want to eat at the resorts restaurant, Dasheene (which was delicious), your options are very limited. Taxi rides are quite expensive so expect to pay around $50 roundtrip to get to a restaurant 15 minutes away. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are just as pictured on the website. The complimentary breakfast is a nice touch as they offers a nice variety Don't miss the Sunday brunch at Dashene, it's worth every single penny!

    Area recommendations
Visit the sulphur springs and enjoy a natural mud bath!! It's a 30 Minute hike from this resort.
    When to go
Off season is June- September. Good if you want to avoid crowds. Keep in mind that it is rainy season. October- May is the islands peak season, best weather.
    What to pack
    Bug spray!
    Dining
Boucan, located in Hotel Chocolat (across the street from the Ladera) is a must. This is the only restaurant within safe walking distance from this resort. The roads are very windy and there are no sidewalks.

    “Loved Ladera”

Ladera was truly an experience - an open air room is the way to go when you have a breeze like that in the jungle! Amazing views of the Pitons. Great staff - made you feel comfortable and special. Would def return. Very romantic. No kids, and wouldn't be safe for kids either (or really, really drunk guests).

“Lives up to Expectations..... And Then Some”

Ladera was wonderful! The location is stunning, although it's not as "remote" as you may think from photos - which is good. The staff is outstanding, some of the friendliest and most professional we've met in our travels. The restaurant is superb!!! Chef Orlando is truly one of a kind. He loves what he does and sharing that love with guests. Can't say enough good things.

    “Honeymoon”

We came to Ladera for our honeymoon and it was wonderful. We really wanted to relax and did not do much. We ate at Dasheen every night simply because we did not want to travel anywhere. They had a nice variety for all 3 meals. It is pricey though. Rum drinks were not doing much for me. I didn't think they were weak but I mostly drank wine and vodka for my cocktails. Make sure to ask for a room with the shower up front. We had one and found out some rooms had them in the back. Birds do fly in your room and leave presents so make sure you put stuff away. The hotel does clean it during the day. Also very few bugs but we slept with our net down anyway. Lots of moths if you have lights on at night though. One tree frog in our room and one giant slug on the ceiling. Not bad and I'm a girl that hates bugs! We did the sunset sail and snorkel. It was really nice. Snorkeling overall not so great. Ladies bring a clip for you hair, really humid at times. Also bring something to soothe bug bites, some aloe vera gel, and a waterproof camera. The resort store didn't have any of these. You can get them in town but it may be a hassel. The only mesquito bites I got were at Jalouise hotel (where the closest beach is) waiting for our shuttle, not at the beach. I highly recommend a massage! We will definitely come back to unwind one day. The view is beautiful! I miss it right now!

“Ladera 2 or 3 days is. enough”

I would like to say that this is and excellent hotel and would recommend it for a 3 days stay but no more. The service is excellent, the food was great and the view is unparalleled. You go for 3 days for the experience. On the downside, for the amount you are paying this is not luxury. And even though it is only 3 walls (for the nature experience), it could still be made to be luxurious. Here is the issue. They are trying to combine a stay in nature with the class of a luxury hotel and it is not that. The tables and chairs in the restaurant, the furniture in the rooms (rooms in general), and their poolside furniture are all in serious need of an upgrade. The hotel as a whole can use an upgrade. Even the fans you get in the rooms are about 10 years old. They are the floor ones you buy from Walmart for $15.00 If you are a light sleeper, you will have issues with the noise. Ear plugs they provide will be needed We ate one night at the Jalousie (beach level resort below Ladera) restaurant and that was a beautiful place. We heard they just went through 100 million dollar upgrade there. Their whole grounds looked beautiful. Don't get me wrong we did enjoy our stay there but would have been just as happy with 3 nights. And somewhere else afterwards.

    “Best Stay In My Life!!!!!”

This resort is far above and beyond anything that the website or pictures can do justice to. The rooms will blow you away with their beauty and their closness to nature. The scenery was breathtaking. The staff was superb. I would recommend this resort to anyone, anywhere. If you are looking for the most beautiful location for a vaca that you can imagine while enjoying the finest food and treatment that you have ever experienced, Ladera is the place for you!
