“One night ruined it for us”

We stayed at La Haut from 5/14-5/19 without incident, and then returned for one night on 5/23. Our initial stay was very nice: we had a premium vista room with a beautiful view, the room was very clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Our last night, however, was a nightmare. We were told the room had an air conditioner, but after a few hours, it was obvious that it didn't work so we called the office. One of the clerks came to our room to check it out, confirmed that it wasn't working, and then just shrugged it off, with a "these things happen" attitude. We asked her if they had a fan, but were told that they were fully booked (there was a wedding on the property that evening) and there were no "extras." We tried to tough it out, but after a few hours, I called the office again to see what they could do for us; this time the clerk told me she'd "try" to find a fan, but she never came back to our room. There was no mosquito netting, so we didn't dare open the windows. It was like spending the night in an oven. We couldn't wait to go home. We knew when we booked La Haut that it was "rustic", so we certainly didn't expect 5-star amenities; but in that kind of heat, a fan is a necessity, not an amenity. At the very least, they should make sure every room has one. It's a really beautiful place, but I can't say that I'd go back.

“View of the Pitons was unforgetable!”

The view from the top floor premiem vista room was beautiful. My husband and I thought to be able to sit on our porch and see the pitons at all times of the day was something we'll always remember. The problem we had was that even though it was only April, the heat at night was unbearable! I remember reading a review before our vacation that stated the a/c was in the downstairs rooms only. Of course we thought the breeze in April would be fine, but it wasn't. On top of that, the netting over the bed did not keep us from waking up covered with bites, we assume it was not from the bedding. After the first night I requested that we be moved downstairs, but it was not until our third night that one was available. The room we moved to was very small, but we were very happy to be able to sleep in a/c and without netting. Besides that, the staff was very helpful and friendly during our stay. The hotel had a very nice pool on the grounds, but they also offer the use of the owners infinity pool for the guests. My photos from there are some of my favorite, the pool over looks the city of Soufriere. Perhaps booking for the premium vista room in the Winter months would be acceptable, but not from the Springtime on.

“Very friendly little hotel with some of the best views in St Lucia”

This was our second visit to La Haut Plantation and we were welcomed back very warmly. The hotel is set on a hill overlooking the town of Soufriere and provides some amazing views. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and the food is freshly prepared and excellent quality. There is a complimentary shuttle bus which takes you to the beach and town at set times of the day and even a laundry service at very good rates.

Traveller's tip
Great location for making the most of the wonderful scenary around Soufriere and even whale and dolphin watching.

“Beautiful spot”

We very much enjoyed our stayed at the Plantation. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our room very much, but had a problem with the noise upstairs the next morning. Apparently, the guests were checking out and it sounded like a herd of elephants. My rec would be to stay on the top floor, although more expensive, the view is breathtaking but the only drawback to that is that there is no a/c upstairs. We chose instead the downstairs room. Lovely spot but I think next time we will look for another place.

Traveller's tip
Be sure to get a firm price from cab drivers as this will be the only way you can travel from place to place, unless you rent a car. They tend to change their pricing.

“Accueil, vue et calme”

Un accueil chaleureux et une vue à couper le souffle sur les pitons. Au calme, un endroit reposant et un personnel très agréable mais au rythme tropical !
