“Very Impressed”

Stayed here for a Hawks game and came down a day early. The service was fantastic and very impressive. The room was very comforting and had a great view of the St. Louis area. It is in a great location and you can walk just about anywhere in the city. The Martini Lounge had great drinks at a reasonable price. I highly recommend staying here.

“It was okay”

Was disappointed that both indoor and outdoor pools were closed. No functional hot tub or sauna.

Area recommendations

The Millenium is right at the Arch and Busch stadium and only a 10-15 minute walk to the Convention Center but there were very few amenities close to the hotel.

“Ehhh....”

The bartenders and service desk were helpful in recommending places nearby to go. Parking is across the street in a public parking deck with no security as far as i could tell and parking was $20 a day. It was quite cold during my visit; which the general public areas inside the hotel were also chilly, the heat in my room did not turn on the last night. While it had a nice restaurant at the top of the hotel with a beautiful view the rest of the hotel was quite outdated.

“Saints game visit”

The hotel pictures do not do it justice, Immaculate hotel, the only thing that may need an upgrade is the TV, its one of those jumbo box 19' screen old time tv. other than that great hotel

“Golden Oldie”

Chose this hotel for proximity to Busch Stadium. It is an old hotel but is kept in pretty decent repair. We upgraded to the high tower for a better room and view which added to the cost somewhat. We did this because of some negative reviews on another website and I think it was a good decision. One day housekeeping missed our room and one morning there was very little hot water. But when the room was made up the following day they did a very good job. But as we were there for the World Series we really were not overly concerned with those inconveniences. At any other time it may have been an issue to raise with the staff. We had dinner at the revolving reataurant and the food and service was excellent. The staff at this hotel are very,very good. In every area of the hotel they were very cheerful and helpful. We got some excellent help from the Bellmen for dining spots and local attractions and directions on how to get there. The location is great for sports fans. Would I go back to this hotel? Yes, but I would first mention the hot water and housekeeping issue before booking. On the whole it was a very good experience made cosiderably better by the fact that the Cardinals won the World Series.

Area recommendations

For access to local attractions and sports venues this is a very good location. And it is close to the Arch and a short cab ride to Pappy's and the Brewery.

Must see

You have to tour the Brewery. The buildings are beautiful especially to me as I was a bricklayer early in my career and for the horselovers there are the Clydesdales .... beautiful animals .. and so well looked after. And you must go up in the Arch although you might want to sit in the display "pod" in the lobby to make sure you can spend 4 minutes in such a small space. But he view from the top is wonderful. And you have to go to Busch Stadium .. wonderful ball park and home to the greatest team in baseball.

Dining

Pappy's Smokehouse for sure for ribs and brisket ... very generous portions ( it was all I could do to get through a combo 1/2 rack of ribs and brisket ) and delicious. Staff and owner are very friendly and the service is exceptional. Go early !! The revolving restaurant at the Millenium is very good. Excellent service and food. And Caleco's Bar and Grill is another great place. Once again excellent food and service and very very reasonably priced.

“Clean but needing renovation”

After reading the horror stories about this hotel I almost switched may reservations. But I found the hotel very clean and comfortable, although in need of renovation or at least a touch of paint here and there (I stayed in the older South Tower). It was cheaper than most of the hotels in the downtown area, and conveniently located near the ballpark and a short walk away from the Gateway Arch and other downtown attractions. I thought the food at the restaurant, Top of the Riverwalk, was bland and overpriced, however. The second night room prices went up so I moved the the Airport Marriot, which was $200 cheaper and easily accessible by the Metrolink tram from downtown.

Area recommendations

Union Station was an interesting area to visit. It has a nice mall, a Hard Rock Cafe and Landry's restaurant, and is easily accessible by Metrolink tram from the airport or downtown areas.

Getting around

Instead of paying $34 for a cab to get from the airport to downtown, use the convenient Metrolink tram. It only cost $2.25 per trip or $7.50 per day and runs every 20 minutes. There are two lines, red and blue. The red line goes between the airport and downtown (and other points further east). The trip downtown takes about 30 minutes.

“Not Impressed”

We were plagued with minor inconveniences on our stay at the Millennium. In our room we discovered the cover was off of the smoke detector and the towel rack was broken. We called to request service to these items and I will say the repairman was prompt, however, he placed the cover on the detector (something I could have done) and did not test to assure that it worked, he did not address the broken towel rack. The following day I went to use the blow dryer and it shot off sparks and died as I adjusted the heat setting. Again the repairman was prompt (still did not fix the towel rack) and replaced the blow dryer. The revolving restaurant was closed by 10:00 pm, I would think an exception would have been made to extend the hours since the World Series was playing across the street, upon visit the next evening we could not have a drink at the restaurants bar until an hour before close. The ice machine on our floor was also broke. On checkout I told the manager on duty of the issues with our room he offered to buy us breakfast, but when I told him we had already eaten he offered nothing more. Many other hotels in the area check them out first and stay at the Millennium as a last resort.
