“St Louis”

The hotel was an older hotel and had some nice updates in the lobby, Bistro area. The website indicated that there was a hideaway bed couch in the room with the 2 double/queen beds. However that was not the case and even the front desk told me there would be a couch in the room. I explained I had a handicapped person with me but did not specially ask for a handicap room which was a mistake as we had to walk half way down a corrider to the room. Halls were dark and needed more light.

“I will probably go back there next year.”

The hotel staff was very friendly. The only negatives I would mention are the setup of the bathroom area in the room. The toiletries and wash cloths were not in or near the tub, but out in the area where the sink is located. This was somewhat inconvenient. Also, my husband forgot a toothbrush and the front desk was out of them both times we asked. These are just small observations. The stay overall was great.

“Convenient downtown location”

All of the staff at this hotel were extremely courteous, friendly and upbeat which was very refreshing. The breakfast menu was great, I recommend paying the little extra to have this included each morning. Very convenient, a lot of places to sit in the newly remodeled lobby. My friend and I sat outside in the courtyard and they brought it out to us which was wonderful. Our room was what I expected, clean and comfortable. The location cannot be beat....only 15 minutes from the Loop and 10 minutes from the Soulard district. Also very close to the Arch, the river and the stadium. I would definitely stay here again. My one and only complaint is on an aesthetic corporate level that I'm sure that this hotel itself had not control over. The remodel that is marketed by Marriot of the front lobby is wonderful.....I just wish that it would carry over into the hallways and elevator. You step out of the lobby and then into an unremodeled hallway and an old elevator. Again, a tiny grief for a great stay for the money.

Area recommendations

The Loop is a wonderful 1-2 mile strip of boutiques, cafes, restaurants and loft apartments....full of people strolling and enjoying themselves outside. Also, the blues clubs on Broadway are wonderful experiences.....some of the best I've heard in awhile. My partner and I ended up at BB's and had a wonderful time.

“not all that great.”

This is the second Courtyard I've stayed in in the past 1.5 years...a little old, tired and not as clean as they should be. The sheets and bedding had stains, the mirrors were dirty...leading me to wonder how clean the room really was. The staff was 5 star...to bad the rest of the hotel isn't.

“Would like to go back & take the family !”

Went and visited the Arch of St. Louis, Busch Stadium, & the downtown area a little. Not much time otherwise to sight see.

Tucker's Place: 2117 S. 12th St.,St. Louis,MO- Great atmosphere in an old historic building & a great place for a steak. Harry's; Right below Courtyard by Marriot on Market St- Great atmosphere, good food & very friendly bar staff. Vito's Italian Restaurant: Right across the street from St. Louis Univ. , very good lunch time buffet menu. Nice outdoor seating area

“Nice hotel in need of professional staff”

The hotel was nice but the most memorable part of the stay was breakfast. We placed our order with a lady that seemed to despise her job and us. We ate our breakfast while listening to the sound of our order taker smacking her gum. The hotel and breakfast were fine but the staff disappointed.

“Excellent”

Walking distance to the arch (for me 1 1/2 miles). Solid all around if a bit expensive.

Area recommendations

Benton Park/Cherokee Street. The Mud House is the best coffee shop on the planet. The Bridge on Locust St for drinks and great cheese plates.

“not what it used to be”

room had a very musty smell to it, shower would not drain,my shoe would of been a more comfortable pillow for me. heavy noise from the highway. I've stayed here 2 times before and it was perfect, this time was not impressed at all. At least the parking is free.(they have some 90 year old security guy out front now because cars were getting vandalized)
