“A good hotel”

A good hotel 5 minutes driving from Downtown. I expected more from the breakfast like fruits, cheese, ham. Only bread, juice and coffee are served in the breakfast. Nice and friendly service. I would stay again.

“Very convenient location...”

This hotel is a great choice to stay in St. John's. It is close enough to downtown to easily walk there but also not located on some of those confusing streets. Also, it is possible to do some nice walks starting from the hotel. The room was fairly nice (partially below ground on the first floor) and staff were very good - including ordering taxis as required. Easy to find the hotel and good access to highways and streets. Kitchenette in the room was very nice and included a toaster and kettle. TV also had a dvd player. I would recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to St. John's.

Area recommendations

Downtown area has very good restaurants with great menus. These include Casbah and Bacalao (close to the hotel). The Ship has good music. Yellowbelly is a great microbrewery/pub.

What to pack

Fall clothing including goretex rain gear - weather can change quickly and wind with drizzle is chilly. Boat tours demand good wind protection.

Outdoors or beach

Brigus is an excellent small town to visit with scenic countryside nearby. The drive there through small fishing towns is quite pleasant.

“Great little hotel on top of the hill.”

10 minute walk to downtown St. Johns, free breke and free parking. Will stay there next time in St Johns.

“Great hotel in a great city”

The hotel was in a quiet setting but minutes from downtown. The hotel itself seemed new and the room was clean and fresh with a great view over St Johns.The overall service from checking in to checking out was impeccable and I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying for a week or longer.

Area recommendations

The harbour area is beautiful and on certain days you can see the cruise ships in the dock I saw the Queen Mary 2 and it was very immpressive.

“A Great hotel!”

This hotel is very clean and modern, with and has a very friendly staff. The rooms (and bathrooms) are a good size especially considering there is a kitchenette and a small kitchen table. The hotel is less than a 10 min walk to downtown and George st., however the route back to the hotel from downtown is up hill most of the way. I really enjoyed this hotel and found it to be a great value. I highly recommend this hotel!

Area recommendations

The downtown core is relatively small, so it is easy to walk all of the streets and visit many of the shops. I highly recommend Cape spear--the views are spectacular.

“Extremely noisy”

While the room was nice and well equipped, the noise level in the cooridor was unacceptable. The door to the room was paper thin and the noise from hotel staff and other guests was such that it was difficult to sleep late at night and past 6am. I complained to the front desk on the second night of my three-night stay about the noise from hotel staff and it improved slightly for the next day. Still, because of the noise level, I would not stay at this property again nor would I recommend it to others.

“Good access for walking to the harbour area”

The hotel met all of our needs. The rooms were spacious, the breakfasts were good, and the access to town was convenient for walking. The staff were all friendly and helpful. It was very nice to have a shuttle to take us to the airport. Having kitchen facilities in the rooms is a nice option for those who prefer to 'eat in' or just make a cup of tea.

Area recommendations

This hotel is close enough to downtown St. John's and the harbour to enable walking for most people.

When to go

June is still foggy so perhaps July or August would be a better time to see St. John's.

“Great Place to Stay!”

I was only staying in St. John's for about 18 hours (got in late one night and left early the next morning), so I was just looking for a cheap place to stay that was within walking distance of downtown and that was still nice and new - and this was the perfect place to stay! It is a little walk from downtown, but only about 10 minutes. The price of the hotel could not be beat and the staff were very friendly! The hotel itself was spotless and everything (including the hotel) was brand new!

Downtown - its where the real charm of this city is! With the multi coloured houses, good old fashioned British hospitality, and amazing pubs, it just can't be beat!

“A good experience”

We were pleased with the ability to get into our room by 8:00 am so we could have a sleep as we arrived at the airport at 3:00 am. Too bad the shuttle doesn't start sooner. The room was clean and supplied with all we required. The breakfast room was bright and cozy. Thank you
