We stayed at the Royal Yacht for 9 nights and had a very pleasant stay, we had a Silver room at the end which may have been slightly bigger than the others which looked on to an internal courtyard so was very quiet. Good facilities within the hotel and a number of different restaurants and bars and there was a good lounge, Lazyjacks so you did not need to sit in your room. The Sirocco restaurant had a covered external balcony for dining and we often had breakfast there. Breakfast was good but a bit of variety would have been nice, same every day, orange or grapefruit juice, fruit was melon or sometimes melon and pineapple, hot food very nice but again same every day. great omelettes ham or cheese and ham or plain.
The Hotel was excellent but the final exceedingly steep climb from the road to reception is not for the faint hearted, elderly or disabled people would find this a big problem.
The reception staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. Breakfast was second to none with a vast choice. Dinner was competitively priced and good quality.
My only criticism was that my room was above the kitchen area so the smell of cooking was rather overpowering i.e fish, garlic etc does not give a good ambiance when preparing for your evening out. Although I closed the window it was too late once the shift had started.
Although this was no fault of the hotel we had door banging neighbours making it very noisy, but with considerate guests this would not happen.
A very enjoyable stay.
"Nice Hotel in centre of town, close to shops, etc"
Booked this hotel as it was close to shops, pubs and restaurants. However St Helier is a very busy town with a vibrant financial and professional quarter, shops etc. Didn't realise it was so big, so would possibly have stayed out in one of the smaller locations. However, hotel is excellent if you want to stay in the centre of the town. Its clean , nice rooms and friendly staff. The only drawback is the very small car park up a very narrow ramp. If you have a hire car you should consider the excess protection as its very easy to scrape your car going in or out.
We had a great time. There is nothing not to like about this hotel. It's in a quiet area but only five or six minutes walk from the centre of the town. The staff could not possibly be any more friendly or helpful. It's very clean, very well presented and provides a nice outdoor pool. Breakfasts are good. The food in the restaurant is excellent and reasonably priced. We would not think of staying anywhere else on a return visit.
Return visit to this very nice hotel, very comfortable rooms, friendly helpful staff, there was nothing too much trouble for them, old coach house, full of character, buffet breakfast with various choices, Dorans bistro first class.
Would certainly book again when returning to Jersey
