“Accommodation rate was a bargain but the extras !!!”

Considering extremely expensive hotel prices in Switzerland, I booked this hotel at a real bargain, esp for a triple occupancy. The room was a bit cramped though considering that an extra bed was added (I actually asked for a room with one KING BED, not being very tall people we would have managed with that!) but the bathroom was superb. I liked the SECURITY aspect of the hotel, and the staff were really friendly. Very busy though at night due to the Casino in the hotel, nonetheless, it was quiet inside the rooms. Surprised though that we had to pay for parking and Breakfast was horribly expensive!!! Also that no Goldplus points were awarded because I had booked using EXPEDIA!!! That was very disappointing and Expedia should actually challenge this...

“Excellent Hotel but poor front office staff”

I was in St. gallen on a business trip (20-21 Aug 2010). I booked the Radisson blu hotel through Expedia and I am very much happy with the service provided by Expedia. The Hotel is in excellent location, good maintenance, clean, cozy. I like the hotel. However, the front office staff was reluctant to help. I expected a little warmer welcome after a long flight Mumbai-Paris-Zurich-St. Gallen!

“St. Gallen's Best Hotel”

This is the second time I've stayed at the Raddison Blu in St. Gallen and I am very impressed with all of the accommodations of this hotel. The rooms are modern, neat and clean. The beds are very comfortable. The hotel service from the front desk to the restaurant is excellent. The restaurant is also very nice. They have a wonderful breakfast buffet in the morning and serve very good standard Swiss dishes in the afternoon and evening. I can't say enough about the friendly and helpful personnel at this establishment. Great location and outstanding hotel. Highly recommended.

Area recommendations

St. Gallen is a very nice, quaint Swiss city. It has all of the features of a larger city, but, still retains the small city feel. The University is very close to the Raddison Blu Hotel and is set in a nice, residential neighborhood. There is a short walk to Stadt Park and the museums. Of course, the Marketplatz is the area for restaurants and shopping. Make sure to visit the farmer's market in the Marketplatz during the week. You'll find fresh produce, cheeses, breads, and meats there. Adjacent to the Marketplatz is the Bahnhofpt (train station) if you want to travel to other cities by rail.

“Not A Great Family Hotel”

I booked this hotel because I wanted to stay in St. Gallen, this was the only hotel available for the dates of our stay. While it was a lovely, modern business-style hotel and the staff was kind and attentive, it was definitely a businessman's hotel (which it's geared for). The rooms have no drawers -- just surfaces! So, for a family vacation, I wouldn't recommend it -- but for a business trip -- yes. The on-site restaurant was pretty good -- but I would have liked for the breakfast buffet to be complimentary.

“Nice but pricey”

The hotel was very modern, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was not included, which is unusual in Europe and the breakfast was extremely expensive.

“Clean hotel”

Stayed in the standard room for one night. Reception efficient, room ok, clean and not fancy. Sound proofing not ideal but not bad either. WiFi not working in the room. Have not tried in the lobby. On a 1 to 10 scale where 1 is very disappointed and 10 very excited it's a solid 7.

“Like gambling?”

Nice Hotel with a casino attached. Pretty good location, parking garage underneath, be careful on the narrow winding drive down and up. Some restaurants within walking distance, and a train station.
