“Don't expect a beach”

I am sure this was a nice hotel a long time ago.

“Will not be returning”

The room was filled with mosquitoes and I was bitten all night. We were told we would receive mosquito repellant spray in the morning. Too late! We were given an incorrect room key and had to return to reception to obtain the correct key. I ordered lobster salad from room service and received shrimp salad. Rolls without any butter. We were ignored at breakfast.

“Extremely pleased”

After having read a couple of reviews online I have to admit that I was a bit scared before I came there. I think a lot of this has to do with expectations. If you expect a clinical and quiet hotel far away from the beautiful nature on this island pick something else. If you rather enjoy all the sounds from the wildlife while watching the moon over the Atlantic and the lights from houses on the hills this is the place for you. Our suite was recently renovated but still had some of the old nice character. The restaurant was down by the waterfront and had excellent food (Italian food with a French twist, note not Italian the American way). As everything on St Barts the prices are in the higher range for food.

“Would return in a minute...”

The staff from registration, to bar, restaurant and shuttle service were extremely friendly, courteous and helpful--even though we didn't speak French! They all spoke English to differently degrees. The hotel room was clean, quaint--with a great bathroom, refrigerator with snacks (for a fee) with a beautiful view from the balcony. The restaurant food was wonderful with a beautiful beach setting and a European flair. We would go back to enjoy the beach, spa and the welcoming atmosphere.

Area recommendations
The area in which the cottages are located is surrounded by just everyday people's houses which was fine. One thing to be watch for are the narrow, winding roads and the drivers--cars and motorcycles--especially if you dare to drive but mostly walking. It's something to get used to! It was a very nice stay overall.
