“Customer Service not available”
I have rewards cards with all major hotels, and use them. As a rewards member I asked on site if I could check in an hour an a half early and was told not before 4:00 PM check in. I asked if they were full last night or had any rooms available, which was yes. But was told owner would not allow it. Room old, beds and bedding mediocre. Location: Convenient pick up with Trolley
“You get what you pay for..”
The check-in girl was friendly and polite. Once we were in our room, she called and checked to make sure everything was fine. The room looked a little rough, the carpets needed to be steamed seriously bad. After an afternoon sight-seeing we came back to the hotel and decided to go try out the one thing that brought us to this hotel: The "spa" hot tub. It was broken, the water was frigid and we were informed that it wouldn't be fixed until the following day by the manager, who was less than friendly. We were very disappointed with this hotel and will not be returning....
“Clean but needs updating and a coat of paint”
Our room was spotless but needed a few coats of paint and the furniture and fixtures in room were very outdated. The television in the King bedroom needed a picture tube but I wasn't there to watch television. The ceilings showed that there were multiple leaks and it was patched but not done very professional. Our key did not work at first but the staff had it fixed within 5 minutes. The Front Desk staff was wonderful. Tracey always had a smile on her face and could give directions to anything we ansked her. For the price of the two bedroom suite I was very happy with the location and the accomodations and would return.
“Comfort and convenience without the fuss.”
Staff was friendly and courteous. Room was spacious and clean. Easy stroll to Fountain of Youth and Nombre de Dios parks. Trolley stops in the parking lot to take you everywhere else. Will definitely stay there again whenever we're in Saint Augustine.
“You get what you pay for”
My boyfriend and I wanted to go to St Augustine for Halloween weekend, but was on a budget. We also wanted to enjoy some adult beverages downtown, and not have to drive back to the hotel. The Howard Johnson was within walking distance, but it was a much longer distance than it looked on the map. The hotel must have been really historically old, because I saw a couple different tram tours driving through our hotel parking lot with their loud speakers, talking about the history of the place. The age showed, because the room was extremely outdated. There were extension cords everywhere because of a lack of power outlets, broken shower rod that allowed cold air in, and the bedding was very uncomfortable. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful! If given another chance, I would stay at the Comfort Suites or Best Western.
“"very quiet"”
My daughter and I spent a week in St. Augustine. We found the hotel accommodations outstanding. The room walls are very thick, so it is very quiet. The room contained a nice size fridge, a microwave and a room safe. The location to downtown is within walking distance. We spent most our time at St. Augustine Beach and this location is very handy. It is a 10 minute drive. They provide a light breakfast, bagels, cream cheese, hard boiled eggs, coffee, juice. This held us over nicely until we could get lunch near the beach. A1A and A street have a multitude a eating places. Save some money and enjoy Ho-Jo's on your next visit to historic St. Augustine.
“Dirty, dirty, dirty”
We had to wear shoes when in our room otherwise our feet were black with filth. We killed several spiders in our room (and in the bed). The staff was short and unfriendly. I went to the office one evening (before 9P) to get brochures and was met at the locked door with "What do you want?" When I said what I was after, the man said, "No". We definitely will not be staying here again. Thank goodness it was only for 2 nights. The site is convenient to historic downtown, but there are alot of other reasonably priced hotels there also.
“So-So”
This hotel is in the northern section of St. Augustine and IS on the trolley route, so that is an advantage. Next time I think I'll go closer into town though. The bed was very comfortable and linens were clean, etc., but the bathroom left a lot to be desired. Didn't look like the floor had been washed in quite a while. This place definitely needs to be renovated. And the staff wasn't real friendly. So all in all, I don't think I'd return.
