“Run Down and Up for Sale”

The Alhambra Inn is up for sale and running on a skeleton staff. Only three or four other rooms were occupied while we were there. There was no coffee until gone 7.30 am. The office was locked and no staff could be found to check out before 7.15 am. One night there was no hot water from 9.30 pm until after 7.30 am. Towel supply was varied in quanitity and size; only one wash cloth one day! Stay away!

“Not the best but not the worst.”

Not bad. Not good. Everything in the room was old and worn out but it was overall fairly clean. I don't know why any of these older hotels don't use bleach in the bathrooms. It works wonders. The main thing that matters to me besides the room looking and smelling clean are BUGS. I didn't see any. The price was also great!

“Nothing Fancy but Had a Great TIme!”

Rooms were very large, comfortable, and cozy. The hotel was close in proximics to most of the attractions and we were only minutes from downtown. Will definitely stay again...if you are lookiing for a fancy 5 star hotel then this is not the place for you...but if you are looking for an inexpensive hotel close to everything this is it....

“Would stay anytime I am in the area and have already recommended to others.”

“Never again will stay in this hotel”

“Affordable”

Fairly good location, affordable, plain, old bedding, one bed looked tilted, slight "smoked-in" odor in a non-smoking room. I appreciated it having a refrigerator and wireless internet.

Area recommendations

I recommend visiting the Lighthouse, the Castillo de San Marcos, Flagler College, Lightner Museum, and the historic district because those are the places I visited and can speak of. From the top of the lighthouse you get a great view, at the Castillo you can see a reenactment of firing the cannons, Flagler College is beautiful (was formerly a hotel), the Lightner Museum has 4 stories of beautiful Victorian items, and the historic district has a lot of wonderful shops, restaurants, and old houses to see.

Getting around

It's a good idea to park at the Visitor's Center and walk to most of the sights from there. I only had to drive to the lighthouse. The visitor's center has a covered parking lot, so my car was in the shade. The parking fee is affordable.

“Served it's purpose”

The staff was very helpful and friendly. They had a large clean pool. The restuarant that is listed on the web is no longer in business. The hotel was located near everything we had planned to see in St. Augustine. The hotel was more than likely built in the 70's. The rooms have not been updated much since then. The room was fairly clean. We kept something on our feet when walking on the carpet, only because it seemed really old. The beds were okay. The tv was old and there were not that many clear channels. Not a huge deal because we were out most of the day. The price was right. If your expecting a 4- star then this motel is not for you; however, if you need to save a few bucks and only need a place to sleep. Then this motel will suit your needs. They do serve coffee in the morning but no continental breakfast. That would have been a benefit.

The motel was located in safe part of town. Near restaurants and all the attractions.

“Okay”

The motel overall was okay. We stayed there two nights and no one came to clean the room or make the bed on the second day, and there was no remote for the very small old fashioned TV. Otherwise okay.
