My husband and I had a lovely stay at the Old Course on 18th October. Although it was fully booked we were treated to very good service and enjoyed full use of the facilities.
Our only complaint was the length of time in the Dukes Bar to get our drinks on the Saturday evening, this was however noticed by bar staff and as such our drinks were complimentary, a lovely touch.
We very often stay at the Fairmont however feel that the Old Course has stolen the crown.

Located on the edge of the famous Old Course in the Home of Golf, only a short stroll to the town of St Andrews. Hotel …More
We spent 4 nights here, in a room with a glorious view of the ocean and the 18th hole of the Old Course. The room had a sliding door to a small balcony, beds were comfy, lobby areas had plenty of seating and nice decor, and the included breakfast was good. Staff was friendly and helpful, easy check-in & check-out. The hotel could not be in a better location. It's a 1-min walk to the beach and 1 min to the Old Course. Also, it's an easy 2-min walk to St. Andrews bus stop. We took bus to Leuchers train station (11 min; 2.80 pounds each way), then train to Edinburgh (1 hr; about 23 pounds round trip).
Stayed overnight with supper in the hotel and breakfast. Took extremely relaxing late afternoon tea in the bar. Opted for buffet continental breakfast which was surprisingly limited and pared down for this price and quality of hotel - more on a par with budget corporate hotels; perfectly adequate though. However, partner had full breakfast and had a very generous option of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Extremely relaxed and friendly reception layout with low counter and comfy leather chairs - made such a difference. Magazines in room were a nice touch. Proper feather pillows and a really well-'topped' mattress made for a good night's sleep.
A very friendly family run 5stars B&B. I was taken by surprised how big & sparkling clean the room were. A perfect hidden gem for golfers to base for St. Andrews links. They even found & post back my lost camera lens cover. Thank you Jackie. Will me seeing me again in the near future.
