“JD”
The hotel was nice for a night over but nothing to write home about. Everything you need is close by, food, shopping, entertainment, etc. Location was perfect for conference in area.
“Dirty and poorly maintained...stay at your own risk.”
Do not have high expectations. Dirty, poorly maintaied, construction hampers convenience .
“Not bad at all for the price”
Can't really complain. Bathroom was small, but had an outside sink and mirror. Had all the standard amenities. Continential breakfast had a wide variety of foods. (Stayed there Sunday). Overall, very satisfied.
“Some positive and some negatives”
We stayed there this weekend for a ceremony we needed to attend. I chose this hotel, because of the wonderful experiences I've had at other Best Westerns. Let's just say...All Best Westerns are not of the same quality. Upon entering the hotel lobby, there was a faint musty/moldy smell that was quite noticeable. I am going attribute that to building needing some renovations. The front desk woman was okay. Not the best customer service, but she was not the worst. The room itself was ok. the bed was fine, though the sheets were scratchy (for the price I paid, it was something I could over look). The worst part of this trip was the poor service that we received trying to get a shuttle from the Metro to the hotel. This single interaction completely ruined my opinion of the Best Western. I will never stay at this hotel chain again. Pros: Amron (sp) the shuttle driver was super nice and accomodating. A+ for Amron!!! Breakfast was decent all things considering Location was convenient to the Springfield mall, DC, and the Metro Cons: The hotel needs a major update Crappy front desk customer service I won't stay at this hotel again bc of the customer serivce. However, for a basic "Need some place to lay my head of a night" kind of trip, this hotel will suffice.
“Nothing special”
The room was a bit smaller then I expected. The work area (a table, not a desk) was not particularly comfortable. The bed was fine and the room was clean enough. It's a pretty basic run-of-the-mill hotel. Breakfast was nice.
“Stayed Before”
My family & I stayed here a few years ago & didn't have to think twice about staying here again. For those of you with young children, there is even a lifeguard on duty!
“Not what I expected from reviews on Expedia”
Location was very convenient, although using their "free shuttle" to Metro Station probably is not that convenient. We just parked at the station for $4.50/day. If you don't have a car, then I think you could make the shuttle work for you, or take a cab. We booked 2 rooms. Cons: Both were very small, with shabby, 80's looking furnishings. Rooms had an unpleasant musty smell that a/c didn't remedy. One room we booked did not have a fridge and microwave although the hotel lists that as an amenity for their rooms. Ice machine only available on 2nd floor. There isn't one on 4th floor and the one on 3rd floor didn't work. Old-style TV's when almost every other hotel in this category has nicer flat screens. Beds, while somewhat comfortable, were made up with not so great linens (thin sheets, old bedspreads). No laundry room, which is only needed for multi-day stays. Pros: Good housekeeping service; swimming pool kept very clean with a lifeguard present at all times, towels are sometimes available at the pool; EXCELLENT full hot breakfast available with enough options for daily variety for a multi-day stay. All in all, would probably look a little closer at another Springfield, VA lodging option if visiting in the future. Although most of our time spent in a hotel room is simply sleeping or preparing to go out for the day, would prefer to have just a little more "elbow room" than this hotel offers.
“Unacknowledged Inconvenience”
At around 2:30am, the fire alarm went off and the building was evacuated while the fire department searched the building. The next morning at checkout, there was no explanation or apology. The desk clerk didn't even dare ask, "Was everything OK" probably because she knew the response. The only thing said was, "You paid in advance so we're all set.". Translation: "We already have your money so we don't care if you were inconvenienced.". One of the other guests even told me when she called during the alarm, she was told, "that's what the alarm is for, get out!"
“Pleasantly surprised”
After stopping over for one night in another city on the way to Springfield and being very disappointed in that hotel (Super 8), I was tempted to cancel my reservations here, but when we checked in, we were all pleasantly surprised and very satisfied with the rooms - very clean, helpful and polite staff, good hot/cold breakfast, etc. I had reserved two rooms (myself & husband and in-laws). We checked in Tues and out on Sat - no problems at all. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.
“Gppd choice”
convenient, older hotel well maintained great pool nice and very helpful staff breakfast very nice
