“Don't go”
My sister and I booked a 2 night stay at this hotel. We were put in a room in the BASEMENT(!) for our first night and told we could switch rooms the second night. The room we were given in the basement was awful and despite us complaining about it, we still had to pay full price!! Although the windows didn't open, the wind could be heard AND felt coming through. There was no phone and no extra blankets. Overall, our stay at the Art Hotel was inconvenient, uncomfortable and way overpriced for what we got. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.
“Good service. Friendly staff.”
Allowed early check in. And a better room then we paid for. Good breakfast.
“Functional for short stay”
The old part of town and the port are an easy 10 to 15 walk. Useful to know that the airport bus has a stop very close, which we were told by another passenger, the driver didn't volunteer that information.
“Comfortable stay”
I'd never been to Split before and was on a tight schedule, so was pleased to find a familiar hotel chain. The staff was very friendly and helpful - including a knock on the door at 05:30 to make sure I didn't sleep through my wake-up call and miss my ferry! The 20-minute walk to the old city was enjoyable and not inconvenient.
“4 stars rating is not suitable...”
I'd just believed star rating of this hotel and name value of best wetern. But... it was not good... Menu on breakfast was so limited, there was no refrigerator in room, and it was so far from downtown...
“everything you need”
great breakfast selection. friendly helpful staff. clean & convenient location.
“Don't book here!”
This was a terrible hotel - the only saving grace for the hotel was that there was free wifi in the rooms. Firstly, when you look at the hotel online, I thought I was booking into a four star hotel but when it books you, you get put into the 3 star dependancy across the car park. Considering they knew that we had booked two nights for the last of our honeymoon before heading back to England, they gave us the smallest room in the dependancy. When we arrived, the desk clerk was rude and short and more interested in chatting up the female desk clerk than helping us find a route into town. The first night we stayed our room wasn't cleaned. Absolutely awful hotel with rude and inconsiderate staff - I haven't a clue how they managed to achieve 4 stars.
“Upgraded??”
Having booked, last minute, the cheapest, single room available in Split, apart from hostels, I was delighted to find that the "single room" had what seemed to be a King sized bed in it - I assume for some reason I had been upgraded. The level of comfort was higher than I had expected, as the room was meant to be in the 3* "Annex" as opposed to the 4* hotel. The hotel was 15 minutes walk from the centre of Split - so walking there uphill, with my suitcase, using the back roads was not necessarily the best idea. I learnt that the main road was the best route. The only negative side to the room was that I could hear music playing from an adjacent room, clearly enough to sing along to, although as this was during the day, it was not a problem. If you cannot find anywhere closer to the centre of the town, I would definitely recommend this hotel. The local tax that I was warned I would have to pay, was only a few pounds.
“Fantastic price at a great location”
For a good price, you get big rooms, good service and a lovely buffet breakfast.
“Short walk from Old Town”
We booked the Art Hotel because we were meeting a bicycle tour group there and wanted to be in the same hotel in advance of the tour. The location was about a 10 minute walk from the Old Town in a nice neighborhood, so it was a bit quieter than staying down by the waterfront. Exterior wasn't a "wow" but interior was very nice, modern, and comfortable. Good buffet breakfast as well. Would definitely stay there again.
